Baltimore and NY are tied once again for the AL East lead, both are now half a game back of Oakland in the wild card

Toronto and Seattle are now officially eliminated from the playoffs

Updated

NY reclaims the AL East lead sweeping their double header yesterday. Oakland's loss and Baltimore's win pushes Baltimore into the top WC spot by a half a game...so the Tigers can gain a full game in the WC race with a win tonight.

Updated

Baltimore and Oakland are now tied for the wild card, Oakland holds the head-to-head advantage and would host the game if it were to be played today.

It's now mathematically impossible for the Tigers to get the 1st seed (shocker, I know).

Detroit pulls even with Chicago

Detroit would host the tie-break game. The loser would be out.

Updated

Detroit takes over the AL Central lead and now have the 3rd seed in the AL.

Every team that's in the WC race, aside from Chicago, won today. Chicago could be eliminated from the WC as early as tomorrow.

No team in the AL has clinched a playoff spot yet.

The Yankees are now just a game back of Texas for the top spot. If these teams do end up tied, NY holds the head-to-head tie-break.

Tigers only need to go 3-3 on this road trip and would force the Sux to go 5-1 just to tie. Hopefully they get the three this weekend.

Updated

Chicago is eliminated from the wild card, still a game back in the central

Multiple division eliminations can occur tonight

Updated

Yankees and Orioles are tied up now for the AL East lead. Baltimore hosts the one-game playoff if they were to finish tied, due to a better AL record. Currently the loser of this potential game would earn the 1st wild card spot.

Tigers increase their lead to 2 games.

Texas-LA was postponed yesterday, so Texas clinching a playoff spot is on hold.

Updated

Texas' win over LA in their 2nd game of the DH resulted in 3 teams clinching playoff spots tonight.

Texas, Baltimore, and NY have all clinched playoff spots

LA has been eliminated from the AL West

Now multiple things can happen tomorrow night, so keep an eye out on the scores if you're interested
- If Oakland wins, they clinch a playoff spot, eliminating TB and LA
- If TB or LA loses, they're eliminated from the playoffs
- If Detroit wins OR Chicago loses, Detroit clinches the AL Central
- If Texas wins AND Oakland loses, Texas clinches the AL West

It's entirely possible for the playoff teams to be set as of tomorrow (however the positioning will not be set yet)

Series left for teams still relevant
Texas @ Oakland
Tampa @ Baltimore
NY Yankees @ Boston
Detroit @ KC
Chicago @ Cleveland
LA Angels @ Seattle

A note for KalineCountry: Boston loses their 90th game of the season, the first time this has happened since 1966

Detroit wins the AL Central

Chicago is officially eliminated from the playoffs

The Yankees take over the AL East lead, Baltimore is 1 game back. Both teams have 2 games left.

Detroit is now locked into the 3rd seed, they can't move past NY/Baltimore or Texas/Oakland, and they're guaranteed a top 3 seed for winning their division. They won't have home-field in the first round.

Still waiting on a couple of west coast games to finish.

well there goes my Tampa prediction. Guess im not hitting up Windsor this weekend.

Updated Again (from the late night games)

Oakland clinched the last playoff spot with a win last night (thus eliminating LA and TB), that win over Texas has also moved them to 1 game back in the west.

We now have two ties in the playoff standings.

The Yankees hold the head-to-head advantage over Texas, so the Yankees would be awarded the top seed in this 1-2 scenario.

Oakland holds the head-to-head advantage over Baltimore, so Oakland would host the WC game in this scenario.

Here are the head-to-head records between the four teams (since Detroit is locked in)
NY Yankees (9-9 vs Baltimore, 5-5 vs Oakland, 4-3 vs Texas)
Texas (5-2 vs Baltimore, 8-9 vs Oakland (2 left), 3-4 vs NY Yankees)
Baltimore (4-5 vs Oakland, 9-9 vs NY Yankees, 2-5 vs Texas)
Oakland (5-4 vs Baltimore, 5-5 vs NY Yankees, 9-8 vs Texas (2 left))

Here are the AL records of these teams as well (tie-breaker if head-to-head is tied)
Oakland 82-60
Baltimore 81-61
NY Yankees 80-62
Texas 79-63

How great would it be if Both Baltimore and the Yankees tie for the division AND the other wildcard (TX or Oakland) have the same record as the Yankees and Balt? Balt and the Yankees would have to have a one game playoff then the loser would have to play the other wildcard in another one game playoff!
