Albert a Angel

on the other hand, these contracts plus the other ones theyve already signed have all but crippled that franchise for a while. should be fun to watch if they dont make the playoffs or collapse when they do.

The moves by the Angels today not only make it a little tougher in the AL but as well might have just cost the Tigers a chance as Cespedes. With the Marlins missing out on Pujols and now Wilson they might have just taken over as the favorites to land the prized Cuban CF. The Tigers do not want to get in a bidding war for Cespedes especially given the fact that Florida was previously mentioned as favorites to land him and seem intent with signing another star and seem to have a lot more payroll flexibility right now then the Tigers.

Rumors have them in on Fielder now, and their beat writer seems to think they won't go outrageous with their bidding of Cespedes.

I don't think the recent signings really have an impact on how much they'll be willing to spend on Cespedes.

Its like Arturo Moreno sat back and said to Jeffrey Loria I will see your $191M spent at the winter meetings and hogging all the story time and raise you to $327.5M and close out the meetings with a BANG!!!

Guy on MLBN said the Marlins aren't interested in Fielder at all.

Yeah Fielder's 2 biggest suitors at the moment seem to be the Mariners and Rangers although the Rangers are planning to make a huge post on Yu Darvish when he is posted so at the moment it for sure is a little crazy.

Mitch]Now we'll see who the best 1B is? Cabby will squash him.

Yeah, I'd rather have Cabrera than Pujols right now.

dont count the Mariners out on Fielder, they've been wanting him for a while now. Thats who I predicted he'd sign with.

I think Cespedes will be a Marlin. They will over pay for a Cuban star. It makes too much sense.

Yeah, I think the Marlins are probably done for the winter.

i hate the angels, whyd they have to go and get both wilson and pujols?

To better contend vs if not overwhelm their Texas competition, is my guess, since the NLCD Houston Astros will apparently soon be moving to the ALWD, and yeah, I know that the 100+ loss 'Stros suck big time presently.

Maybe.

We have no idea how much they value him at, and it's not like they don't already have a strong OF with Morrison, Stanton, and Bonifacio.

It doesn't make any sense for them to overpay for Cespedes just because he's Cuban.

i highly doubt that pujols is dunn 2.0, though i think his offensive numbers will definitely drop. the only ballpark in that division that doesnt favor pitchers is the rangers' (though houston appears to be fairly neutral, it still slightly favors pitchers).

You do know that the Miami area is about 30% Cuban...right? If there is any team that will over spend for a potential Cuban star it would be Miami. Also....if I were Cepedes that is the #1 team that would be on my list. It is a perfect fit.

KalineCountry]angels are signing wilson for 5 years 75M.

Ilitch and DD might have to rethink no other 18/20M plus player(s).

Yeah in a matter of hours the Angels not only spent $250-260M on Albert but then another $77.5M on Wilson. $327.5M million in a matter of an hour on 2 players to add to a team that won 86 games last year.

What is funny in all of this is Moreno just spent more in an hour (327.5M) then what he bought the Angels for in 2003 ($184M)
Good luck to them. Those deals are both gonna look bad in a couple years, mark it down.

The Angels are gonna be really good next season though.

250 million dollars for an almost 32 year old 1st baseman.

Pshh its only a quarter billion dollars for one player ::)
