Albert a Angel

According to Joe Strauss the Marlins' offer, including tax ramifications, exceeded total value of Angels' which is believed around $255M. Especially when you have to factor in the 10% state tax in California to no state tax in Florida.

In both the Pujols and Wilson offers the Marlins had the highest offer to both players so with that said yeah I believe when its all said and done you can be certain the Marlins are not done spending this offseason.

However Cespedes really only would make sense to the Marlins IF they indeed moved Ramirez since it would then open up them moving Emilio Bonifacio from CF to 3B since their corner OF slots are taken up with Morrison and Stanton.

I would really at this point not be surprised to see Ramirez moved for pitching and them sign Cespedes when indeed he is added to the free agent pool. Cespedes would appeal to the huge Cuban following in Miami and for sure lessen the blow that for sure would come from the fans if indeed the Marlins moved Hanley whom is a very popular player in Miami.

Well Wilson got JV money but he's no JV. Way too much. Yeah Pujols fell a bit last year. Those last few years could be brutal but at least he can DH.

Pshh its only a quarter billion dollars for one player ::)
You mean a 35y/o?

No way is Pujols only going on 32. Look at the guy, he easily looks 35, and there have been rumors around for years that he really is around 3yrs older than claimed.

Maybe.

We have no idea how much they value him at, and it's not like they don't already have a strong OF with Morrison, Stanton, and Bonifacio.

It doesn't make any sense for them to overpay for Cespedes just because he's Cuban.

You do know that the Miami area is about 30% Cuban...right? If there is any team that will over spend for a potential Cuban star it would be Miami. Also....if I were Cepedes that is the #1 team that would be on my list. It is a perfect fit.

Yeah, they have a huge Cuban population.

That still doesn't mean it makes sense to give out tens of millions to a player because he's Cuban.

And I'd assume Cespedes, like most free agents, will go to whatever team pays him the most.

That's the one thing I worry about the Cuban guy, who knows how he is?

Same, that's the biggest concern with him.

Cuban players also often like about their age the other way, so that they can compete in international competitions before they're really old enough.

Just to reiterate my earlier post Marlins offered Wilson $98-$99 million over 6 years.

"If it was about the money, I'd be a Florida Marlin," Wilson said.

Or "If you would have signed Albert Pujols, I'd be a Marlin", lol.

There's not a damn one of the deals I would have liked us to have taken so far. Pujols, Reyes, Wilson and Buehrle all got way too much money and too many years.

I know there's a risk but I would have love Reyes. Just watching him last year when we played against us, he was exciting. Perfect lead off hitter. I agree on the rest.

It looks like Wilson will be getting a little over $15m a year.....JV is at $20M

Reyes got the most realistic deal of the group, IMHO. I still think it was too much on money and years. I agree with you in wanting him as a player though.

Nah. it will have been a quarter-billion+ for a likely 45 year old when all of his salary has been paid out, and who will have a NTC along with his riches. That means the Angels won't be able to do like the Rangers did with AFraud, eating much if not most of Pooholes' contract in order to be rid of him, by trading him to an EC team in the NL or AL, unless Pooholes himself would concur.

I was looking at Jv's contract 5 for 79.5 so its pretty close.

Damn guys, the angels already kicked our ass last year and now they got wilson and pujols? Weaver, harren, wilson is scary....

Dave needs to kick illitches ass and spend all his money before everybody is gone. I know its not realistic but i cant stand it when we dont make a splash every year.

We were 3-4 against the Angels last year, they hardly kicked our ass.
