Am I just a sucker?

It's easy to restructure (players love it), and it won't kill our future cap commitments if we cut Tulloch/Bush. 5.1 in 2016 and 2017 we can handle.

And like I said, Suh gets paid over September-December. The only cash out is the restructures (which Ford is paying anyway September-December even if we don't make the restructures). Don't worry about the cash.

At one point (2017) we might cut Calvin having around 9-10 million in dead money. This is something the Lions can handle as well. Don't think we can? We are handling 9.7 of Suh dead money and 3.9 for Houston right now and are 15 under.

Would need JPP signed long term and they would need Suh signed long term once both were franchised and given non-exclusive tag. There's big money given right there too. You are still franchising Suh to make that trade happen and that trade couldn't happen until March 10. So we would need to be compliant under the cap and have a deal work. Either way the restrucutres and cuts would happen.

If we can get a deal with JPP, we can get a deal with Suh. I'd rather have Suh. JPP has two really down years (2012/2013) and back issues.

And a Suh franchise he doesn't get 26.7 million on the day he signs. He's gets it over the course of September-December in game checks.

We don't have to sign Rookies before the 10th, Bush is a no brainer, post June 1, gets us close

June 1st means he wouldn't be off the books yet. The full cap number stays on until June 2nd. We wouldn't be in compliance with the cap.

We would still have to restructure the four guys. Rookies are only 1.8 million in room. So 16.8 million under. Still have 10 million to go to be in compliance with Suh on the tag waiting to be traded. Two major deals with superstars would have to be in place. It's a pipe dream really. I'd rather keep Suh than have JPP. Suh long term gives us just as much benefits as JPP long term in terms and a good amount of space. I already gave the Suh long term scenario (eating 10-11 in extra space).

How much do you give JPP?

I'll take him at 5 yrs for 70..then suh for 1 at 27

I'd take Suh 6 years 102.5 million over JPP for 5 for 70 (and still making the restructures).

They can get a deal done. Just offer him slightly more than Watt. It makes too much sense. If Suh turns down 102.5 million then he's just greedy. Franchise him, have two years to rebuild through draft, a top defense in 2015 and then you get your cap space in 2016.

We're talking frachise tag...i

Read the second paragraph.

Franchise tag still a good option. Cap space in 2016. Gave you the list of free agents. Lots of good ones out there on defense. Get a top defense in 2015 barring major injuries. And you get two drafts to replace two DTs. Win win win.

Plus your trade is pipe dream.

I brought up a trade option, most likely it would be for picks. Nor advocating anything specific

I don't know why the tag came into this discussion. I don't think they will ever tag him.

I said in the original post that Mayhew actually seems like he is close to terms on a deal with Suh, and asked if I was just a sucker for believing that.

Yeah but the next two years the cap is supposed to go up 7-10 million each year. So its kinda mute

First, every year league revenue exceeds expectations, so we can bet it will go up even more than that. I heard one financial analyst say he expect a cap of $200MM by 2017.

Second, all that is without the new TV deal, which is bound to allow DirectTV to do Pay Per Game online. I would say that will blow all revenue expectations apart if it gets done, and make DirectTV a ton of money too.

He told us about 6 different times last year that he would be signed....what in the world would make you believe him now? We're taking about a guy that lies directly to his players about playing on prove it deals and then not paying then after that lol. ...guy is a joke.

Not sure if Suh will sign but I saw this snippet "Mayhew also said on the team's website the Lions are in negotiations with quarterback Dan Orlovsky...to potentially return"..so we got that going.

WTF, That's the best we can do for a backup QB. Sometimes I hate this team..

And Jeremy Ross

Staff will be 25 mill in 2016 and 2017
CJ will be 26 and 24

How much more guaranteed money do we owe CJ?

If he doesn't produced top 3 WR numbers this upcoming season, it may be time to cut ties...
