Boesch is released + signs with new york

I guess I should take down my BB picture here now. LOL..had high hopes for him sad it didn't work for him, hope someone else gives him another shot someday.

I was pissed when they gave him the contract in the off season. It's only a $400K mistake...not too bad...DD has made a lot of those, and worse!

LOL you were pissed about a 2.3 million contract? That's freakin' peanuts. In the end it didn't work out, but DD was right to sign and try to trade him.

Um....a player is what he is at age 26. Boesch will be 28 in April. So, after 2011, people should have known what he was.

And FYI...it is pretty hard to change a player's mechanics after age 26. You can make minor adjustments without much issue, but any major changes is almost non-existent. Granderson's mechanical changes were somewhat minor. Luis Gonzalez' opening of his stance when he arrived in Arizona was also considered minor. By 26, a player has been hitting that way generally from 14 years old on, with minor adjustments. Heck, I am 53, and pretty much have the same batting stance as I did at 16. Sure, I imitated player's stances growing up, but I used what worked best for me.

Boesch's walk rate in the minors = 19.22 PA/BB

Boesch's walk rate in the majors = 15.90 PA/BB

2010 = 14.49 PA/BB

2011 = 14.24 PA/BB

2012 = 20.08 PA/BB

Just so everyone is tracking. Average = 12.50 PA/BB (not including intentional).

For the record. I find Boesch more valuable than Delmon Young, but not by very much.

I remember when the argument was would you rather have BB or Jason Heyward. Guess that question got answered.

With our luck he will probably be a 30/30 guy with his next team and will probably go to a NL club and hit 9 homers verses us in the 2013 WS...

There were a few idiots who tried saying that when Boesch had his hot start when he was first called up.

They must have ignored his minors' stats. They are usually telling of what a player will at best accomplish in the majors.

I was pissed because I knew he sucked and it was a waste. How in the world can you sit here and say it was right to sign him and try to trade him when nobody wanted him? That makes NO sense at all!

You think nobody wants him, wait 5 days and see what happens. And again, he's still better than a few options were considering *cough don kelly cough*.

The Tigers org. still didn't use him correctly. I mean, early last season he should been sent to AAA to try and work things out. Or sometime during the 2011 season. They just kept playing him and hacking at bad pitches with no adjustments.

True. This is not really an excuse for his failings, but it's pretty unforgivable that he was not benched until the playoffs.

When it was clear he wasn't going to get it together, he should have been sent down, might not have helped hit hitting, but at least it might have helped his head, not to be out there every day and knowing he was terrible.

That's normal for us. We kept Inge way too long, we kept Raburn way too long.

Though I despise Don Kelly, I still like him more than Boesch. Neither can hit but at least Kelly can be a competent defensive sub at multiple positions whereas Boesch is Delmon bad in the field. Not that I want Kelly back on the team, but if I had to choose to be stuck with one, Id pick Kelly.
