Brett Kavanaugh

FBI investigation uncovered no new corroborating evidence. Dems say the investigation was insufficient. Some protests have popped up. Key votes have not said what they will do. Republican leadership appear confident Kavanaugh will be confirmed.

I did hear they're having a vote on Saturday one of the GOP senators will be at his daughters wedding?

My big question is this guy a beer drunken idiot? Does he have the temperament and does Damon do him justice.

Damon started at an 11 and took it to a 15. Kavanaugh didn't go any higher than 8.

Did you know Gentry can throw the ball?

I guess I really never would have thought of it if you hadn't started that one thread on the Michigan board about Gentry and a trick play.

I'm pretty sure he never took a snap under center at Michigan.

It's no secret. He was a highly rated pro-style QB recruit.

It may not be unreasonable, but it is irrelevant. His motivation for what we assume is his position isn't really relevant to a criticism of his instinct to dodge the question as a politician would rather than as a judge.

what? so there's a difference between how a judge would avoid a question and how a judge would? That sounds like the response of someone trying to find an issue with the guy.

If that was the first or only thing I said about the guy, sure it would sound like that.

But yes, there's a difference between judges and politicians. Which is what I've been saying repeatedly these last few posts.

Senator is attending his daughter's wedding, but is ready to skip the reception and fly back to DC if needed.

Does this open the door to a wedding filibuster?

"Speak now or forever hold your..."
"AHEM!!!"

I haven't followed the count that closely but I think read something about possibly needing Pence to be the tiebreaker so it may come down to Coons and one or two others. But I don't know if they'll know beforehand how everyone will vote.

virtually every judge who avoids a questions on any topic sounds like a politician every time they avoid a question.

I think it comes down to Coons and one or two others - if Pence can break the tie, they won't need him to ditch the reception.

Yeah, most recent speculation says Murkowski voted no on a procedural vote so she will probably vote no and Colins is the next most likely to flip. But I think Colins said she's satisfied with the FBI investigation.

Flake is a yes.

Procedural went 51-49 with Colins and Manchin voting yes. If Colins flips, Manchin is expected to not want to be the democrat the help get Kavanaugh appointed.

I changed my prior post (surprise) to reflect what I saw in a brief MSN story - and I said Coons but I meant Collins. Is the procedural vote the cloture vote from this morning? Apparently Collins voted yes on something similar for DeVoss then voted no on her. She's the one I would worry most about - Maine is pretty close to the People's Republic of Vermont, both geographically and ideologically - those people are even starting to ruin New Hampshire. The wrong vote could rile up her opposition and she has to be aware of that.

So is this the final vote so if the votes don't goes his way Trump finds someone else?

Yes (tomorrow's vote is the vote). That why I don't get why Republicans are so stuck on Kavanaugh. Just appoint someone else that will do all the same things, but wasn't a key guy behind the Clinton impeachment effort.

Yes. Cloture. Like to close. Means “we’re done talkin’ here. Time to shit or get off the pot.”

I heard that the polls in West Virginia favor the passage of Kavanagh.

Manchin is up for reelection, and if he votes to confirm that would likely be why.
