Burleson breaks arm in car accident

You exaggerate Lions optimist in terms of crushing opponents/NFC champ. I never say stuff like that. Everything else is spot on though and everything about the pessimist was true. The Lions are a damn good team with a lot of talent and there is a reason for every loss. Every game is different and has little to do with past performances. That's just logic not being an optimist.

And Lions realist is just the obvious regarding the schedule. No opinion is no fun on a message board.

The future looks bright. What do you mean? We're missing a few more pieces but show me a team that isnt.

Sorry, Tony. But I've seen years of mostly crap. One of what, two teams that haven't reached a SB? I guess I need to see it first before I believe it. We've had other seasons of looking good only to fail..I was born in '65 I'd like to see this team gt to a SB.

Let me sum up this conversation for everyone:

If the Lions Lose-

Lions Pessimist: "We lost because this team sucks, our management is a bunch of idiots, and we will never get any better. We can't draft, we can't coach, we can't play."

Lions Optimist: "We lost because there were mitigating factors here. Critical injuries played a part in this, the talent is not bad they just made some bad decisions. In a perfect world, this team was capable of winning, and this loss should not be viewed as a reflection of future performance."

Lions Realist: "There is another game next Sunday."

If the Lions Win-

Lions Pessimist: "We won this game by the slimmest of margins. It's proof we can't score, can't stop another team from scoring, and can't coach. Our drafts have sucked or this would have been a blowout. We will lose next week against (fill in the team)."

Lions Optimist: "We won because we are a damned good team with a lot of young talent that is finally learning to play together. It doesn't matter what the final score was, the only thing that matters is the W column. We should easily make the playoffs this season, and the NFC Championship game is not entirely out of reach. Next weekend we will crush (fill in the team)."

Lions Realist: "There is another game next week."

Same story in every thread around here.

I like the post. And up until this past year I was mostly in the positive camp. Not sure why I changed, probably just to go opposite LKP. I just want them to win. I don't care how and I was pumped after we ended the streak ..but between games I'm back to Mr. Negative.

LMFAO. Being negative just to go opposite of me. There is plenty positive things about the Lions that need to be said. They have room for improvement like any team but this is a talented team. Don't care how we got good players or what 2nd round picks do or don't do, the Lions have plenty of good players.

Why is being negative any different than Mr. Positive with a list of excuses if things go wrong.

Reasons things go wrong. Missing players from injury hurts any team. Lions have different injuries this year but they are to areas of depth at RT, RB, DT and LE so far. So the Lions are continuing to play well.

There are many reasons why the Lions lost 12 games, injury was a big one of them, but not the only reason. I've gone over the poor DE play, poor backup safety play and the turnover problems too. This year we have starting safeties, better DE play and +3 in turnovers. So far so good with a long road ahead.

Other teams have injuries, don't they ? Or do we just have more..if you're going get on us "pessimistic" folks then you need to be more real about why we lost 12 games.

The Lions did have more than alot of teams last year. And the Lions are a newly talent team so depth struggles. Not all injuries are created equal and some injurie are concnetrated. For instance, Delmas, Spievey and Carey all hurt at the same time leaving 4th-6th strings remaining for the Lions in 2012. Yeah some teams lose a WR, but not many lose WRs 2-4 and TE for the same 4 games and don't have speed back due to injury.

Here is proof they were more injured. Notice 2011 they were very healthy. Notice how health the 10-6 Bears and Vikings were and San Fran and Seattle. GB is kind of anomaly because I feel they are a very average team with an incredible QB who can't fix any situation for them.

Indy had a joke schedule in 2012 and Washington was 3-6 until Morris and RG3 went off plus play in a weak NFC East.

Natoinal media sees this year for what it is and yes the year is still young.....we have 2 wins vs not very good teams and we barely squeeked those wins out. Then we lost to a not very good ARI team. Therefor we arent ranked as a top 10 team. So while im happy we are 2-1, im much to smart to think anything other than this team is fragile and has recently rattled off 8 loss losing streaks. Depth at WR is already a problem again this year. Bush cant seem to stay on the field already. Boneheaded plays seem more and more to be the result of our boneheaded coach. Were still shooting oursleves in the foot with "dumb" penalties/costly turnovers. And to pile ontop of all that there is some sort of weird thing going on with the refs that they just love to throw flags or make an odd call on us for the weirdest shit that normally negates a huge play for us - see the houston run last year or calvin call in ari game but no call for cruz? Front office/draft stuff aside.....the product we have now surely has talent....but im concerned about the result of how the poor coaching and hard schedule will effect the talent. Keys for this year going forward are the same as before the season began:

1) a WR needs to step up and be a playmaker - looks like this will need to be broyles now that nate is out

2) the offensive line will make or break us. Theyve played really well thusfar against belo average defenses. they need to keep it up going into the meat of the schedule.

3) Bush needs to stay on the field.

4) Staff needs to be a more consistent passer and reduce the 1-2 plays a game that kill the team.

I said before the season started just looking at the schedule that we needed to start the season 4-2 just to be competitive this year. We can easily still do that so were in good shape. But a 2-1 start is in no way making me feel like even getting up off the coach to get a glass of kool aid yet let alone drinking any of it.

Kool-aid has too much sugar anyway. Better off drinking Crystal Light.

But you said the future, Mitch. Forget about the past for a second, i know its hard but let it go. The future of this team is very bright. We are young in a lot of positions

I thought the future was Barry Sanders. But even with him we were just average.

Barry Sanders? Oh my...are you ever jaded..lol.

Things WILL get better, bro...have faith

Why? I have faith in God. Faith in the fact my Dad and brothers are in heaven rather than just 6 feet under. Faith in the Lions, not a chance.

Ok, Mitch......why do you even stick with this team? You just said it yourself..you dont give these guys a fighting chance. You enjoy misery? For sure you do....fn priceless. Ummmmm go Bears? lol

I root for them, I just don't have faith they can get to a SB anytime soon. I'm sure I'm not alone.

I never said anything about a Super Bowl. I dont think theyre there either but you never know...anything is possible.I know theyre a good football team who has a chance to make the playoffs. Get to the playoffs and you can get to a Super Bowl and possibly win it. Like i said....FAITH. I believe in this team

hey if you think about this for a second... perspective sez...

let me get this straight. the Lions are 2-0 againts playoff teams from last year but 0-1 against last place teams from last year. yet wait, we were a last place team last year. hmmm...

it's amazing to me how drastically different teams can be now a days year over year... last to first, first to last, not all that uncommon anymore..

so hey, 2013 through week 3 for the Lions they are 2-1 against teams that have a combined 2013 record of 1-8, granted 2 of those 8 are at our hands. ok so 1-5 minus head to head.

hey show me something to believe in and beat the 3-0 whiny ass cutler bitch bears!

make it so bitches!!!!

oh I like that one.. Whiny ass cutler bitch bears, I should start a new thread called Whiny ass cutler bitch bears!
