Burleson breaks arm in car accident

Everyday that goes by I'm more convinced he's our new Hoopster.

Or really is just Hoopster.

and everyday that goes by you don't even post anything...so who the fuck cares who you are or what you think. What have I said about our team that isn't true? Cause I can list about 30 of LKPs bullshit lines he said over the offseason that hasn't come true lol. I watch the games....and I tell it how it is. A good majority of the things I say either happen or come to fruition very soon. Spievey Best Leshoure Titus Broyles....I apologize for being right. Keep living in your fantasy world....cause your perennial playoff contender you see when you watch the game.....they haven't won a playoff game since I don't remember when.....they won 4 games last year....they still cant run the ball and are completely lopsided on offense. Opposing offenses torch us week after week in the pass game. Weve played 3 of the weakest teams in the NFL and are probably pretty lucky to be 2-1 (yes im allowed to say that since all the homers said it was just unlucky that we won 4 games last year). They've played barely good enough to beat the weakest teams in the league. The good teams in the league torch the Arizona cardinals...we don't. CLE just beat MIN...so thatll tell you how good that win was for us. LAst week we beat the worst defense in the NFL when we finally got all the breaks instead of the other team. RGohandIII I don't think ever fumbled without being touched before...threw an ill advised pick....and wash had the calvin rule work against them to take away a TD. Ya...we were very close to losing against one of the worst playing teams in the league right now. Sooooo keep watching with your rose colored glasses on.....and ill keep it real.

Mike Thomas - WR - Lions The Detroit News expects GM Martin Mayhew to trade Mikel Leshoure for Mike Thomas. This is a smart move considering Thomas spent last year with Detroit and knows the system. Oh wait...wtf...nevermind...He spent nearly a year there and Detroit's coaches were too dumb to teach him the system. Now Mayhew has traded his rd 2 superstar to get him back on the team. Mayhew is obviously thinking....well....we don't really know what hes thinking. Hes an idiot. Source: Detroit News Sep 25 - 10:16 AMPlayer Outlook

If this is true it would be one of the biggest head scratchers since Millen was GM. First you trade a 4th for Mike Thomas. He stinks so you realease him in August and have to pay him $1M. Then, after 3 games you trade a player you spent a 2nd round pick on to re-acquire him. So...you gave up a 4th & paid him last year and he wasn't productive. You release him and still have to give him $1M. Then after 3 games you trade your 2nd round pick for the same guy you released? Mike Thomas = unproductive 1/2 season, extra $1M for doing nothing, a 4th and a 2nd rounder.

Gold Jerry....PURE GOLD!!!

Add to that he'd be trading for a guy who is no longer in the league. I mean who'd he be trading with? His wife? What would Mayhew trade for him? A jar of Ovaltine? Gold!

"hey, wife, I have a great idea" - Mayhew

"what's up hon" - wife

"I'm going to trade you our RB for a guy who doesn't play anymore" - Mayhew

"deal" - wife

"thanks, hon. Take that LKP" - Mayhew

Wife - oh you mean I get that rb that doesn't play anymore...and you get a wr that you traded for, paid a roster bonus to, and doesn't play anymore....hmmm....sounds like you're getting the better deal.

And there it is!!! lmfao.....i knew you'd have a complete fn meltdown sooner or later. Its automatic with you. It never ends. We're lucky to win, good teams would kill Arizona and Washington, we actually suck, Mayhew is a joke, blahblahblah......you're a trainwreck, dude and im fully convinced you're on meds. Ill guarantee you it eats you alive that we're 2-1, doesnt it? lol

You need to find another team because your brain cant handle it....you're too weak. A win is a win so STFU

And not everything you say comes true. You've been wrong on our OLine, LBs, Stafford, Broyles is back

What the Sam jack billy whop is going in around here! We sign another WR Yet? What's all this bullshit about Thomas and why am googling search results with articles talking about how Reggie bush thinks chad Johnson would be good for us? Waaaahhhna don't even think about it!

Not saying I'm backing Hughes on everything, but if "a win is a win" then why isn't "a loss is a loss"? Based on what you, LKP, KDP, etc. post we're always unlucky if we lose, but if we win it's only because we played well.

I think it's fine to critique both wins and losses because the Lions can always become better, which is what all of us want, assuming everyone here is a Lions fan. Just add in some positives every so often. And Tony, it's a lot more interesting to read threads when you contribute to the reason the thread was made, instead of just bashing on people and using "fn" all the time.

How was I "wrong" about our oline and Stafford? Our oline was a big questionmark coming into the year....no one had any idea how they would gel...none of them had really played together as a unit. That's all I said is they would make or break us. They've played exceptionally well so far this year.

Stafford is what he is....mediocre accuracy and throws for a ton of yards because he throws it 800 times a year. No, I don't think he is a top 10 qb yet and just cause hes more accurate so far this year I still don't think hes at an elite status. That doesn't mean he cant grow to be that guy....but right now hes still making those 1 - 2 bad decisions per game that kill us. He needs to improve in the red zone from last year, his accuracy from his career mark, pocket presence (happy feet) needs to be better, and his propencity to check down is slightly ridiculous which is more a combination of linehan and his wepaons not names CJ that cant get open down field. Tell me if im wrong...but I think all those are fair observations of staff.

"Broyles is back" is a slightly ridiculous statement.....I guess we will see moving forward how far back he is. If you really want to critique my comments from that draft we should be fair. We had just drafted titus the year previous and had a hard time even getting him on the field often. SOooooo....in the second round we chose what I felt was a "luxury" pick since he would surely be behind cj nate and titus. In my eyes....we had a shit ton of holes that offseason - which came to fruition - yet we decided to draft a 4th string WR coming off major knee surgery. He rarely played, got on the field more halfway through the year. Had 1 good game....then his year was done due to another major injury to one of his knees. This year ....even if he was 100% healthy.....he would have been playing behind nate in the slot. Do I think thats the type of production a 4 win team should get out of 2nd rd pick?....my answer is obviously no.

Linebackers - The "homers" can see levy make 2 gift picks and call for him to be in the pro bowl all they want lol. I think he sucks....hes sucked at tackling and in coverage for most of his career. If he miraculously turned the corner this year and continues his success.....great.....ill gladly eat crow. But until then hes consistently been one of the worst defensive players on our defense year in and year out. Palmer is a career back up....I like him....but to say I was wrong because I think our linebackers are weak as a group?? We can continue the debate throughout the year.....thru 3 games ill admit they've played better than I expected but thats mainly due to the ease of scorching our secondary so teams haven't had to exploit our LBs. The games weve been in also turned the teams we played into passing teams. Zona ran at will...just decided not to run often cause our dbs played so poorly. But when they did hand the ball off...mendenhall was gashing us. Same thing vs WAS. When they chose to run...Morris gashed us. But they fell behind and it turned into a shootout. THey bottles up AP fairly well after the long run....I accredited the dline play for that....they played out of their minds and most of the time APs first contact was in the backfield.

A loss is a loss...i never give excuses. Dont give me that bullshit bro.

and if you dont like reading my threads with "fn" in them, turn your fn eyes elsewhere because its the way i express myself. I know no different...sorry, not really. And i call people out on their bullshit, not attacking anyone....i fully expect the same for me.

You're wrong because you give NOBODY a chance on this football team. Especially if you dont like them. You have been wrong about the LBs, the OLine and Broyles for starters. Fn own up to it for fk sakes. Any criticism on any of those guys right now is unjust.

I think LG made a good point. If we beat Chicago will there be any "we were lucky because their DT is on IR?" No. Some of you will say its because we played good. But if we lost and Suh was hurt, its because of an injury.

The Lions are obviously the unluckiest team in the world..

The bottom line is, we probably assume Ford Jr. would be an improvement over his Dad but he might be just as bad. I'm worried about the future of this team. I think we're the Cubs of the NFL..

The future looks bright. What do you mean? We're missing a few more pieces but show me a team that isnt.

it seems the NFL is in an odd year where previously good teams are underperforming and mediocre teams are winning more because of it. the current bad team, Jax...well, there's nothing more to say than they might actually match the Lions 0-16 record, so no sparkling grape juice for the Lions when the last winless team finally wins or ties this year.

point being, this could actually be a year where the Lions make the playoffs. will they win a playoff game??? difficult to predict, but if they win in Lambeau then I'm going with yes. however, since i already predicted they would go 16-0, i thereby predicted they would win in Lambeau and now I just predicted they would win a playoff game.

granted they already lost a game, so take what i've said here with a grain of salt, lime, and tequila...preferably the whole bottle and eat the worm, otherwise you might remember this post.

You wrote a god damned essay, lol. Because you post more than me, obviously your opinion weighs more. You are obviously a much better, realistic fan than me.

I have the Lions pegged at 7-9 for the season. So before you go off claiming how I believe the Lions are perennial playoff contenders, remember that.

Do you want an actual, non-delusional (from both sides) analysis from my perspective on the Lions? No? Too bad.

The Lions I still have sitting at 7-9. Change the coaching staff and we would probably be 9-7 to 10-6. In the years since they arrived I gave Schwartz a pass on year one because, well, anything is better than 0-16. Year two I wasn't too happy, but at the end of the year they went on a nice win streak which went over into year three to get into good graces. I think we can all agree that hitting the playoffs the next year is a huge win by Lions standards, missed the elusive first playoff win due to atrocious defense (IIRC the Saints never punted the ball that game.) That leads us to last year which had some god awful playcalling and steps back.

Now, BECAUSE Mayhew kept Schwartz and Co. around this year, he put his head on the block as well. Anything less than a playoff bid, with the talent we have, is going to result in his head rolling with the rest. So yes, I think Mayhew is out after the year, however, I blame it on him not letting go of his coaching staff. Some draft picks pan out, some don't. Shit, even Bellichick misses his picks, they just let go their 2nd round pick. Don't even put him in the same breath as Millen.

Xanders will be GM by the draft next year, and we'll have a new coaching staff. I'm not a Mayhew defender, I just can see what's the problem and where it is.

Let me sum up this conversation for everyone:

If the Lions Lose-

Lions Pessimist: "We lost because this team sucks, our management is a bunch of idiots, and we will never get any better. We can't draft, we can't coach, we can't play."

Lions Optimist: "We lost because there were mitigating factors here. Critical injuries played a part in this, the talent is not bad they just made some bad decisions. In a perfect world, this team was capable of winning, and this loss should not be viewed as a reflection of future performance."

Lions Realist: "There is another game next Sunday."

If the Lions Win-

Lions Pessimist: "We won this game by the slimmest of margins. It's proof we can't score, can't stop another team from scoring, and can't coach. Our drafts have sucked or this would have been a blowout. We will lose next week against (fill in the team)."

Lions Optimist: "We won because we are a damned good team with a lot of young talent that is finally learning to play together. It doesn't matter what the final score was, the only thing that matters is the W column. We should easily make the playoffs this season, and the NFC Championship game is not entirely out of reach. Next weekend we will crush (fill in the team)."

Lions Realist: "There is another game next week."

Same story in every thread around here.

Pretty accurate, lol. It's all about what mindset people have.
