Caldwell's Staff

He's the tenth highest paid CB in the NFL based on salary. Yeah...I'm gonna say prayer for him at the Thanksgiving table.

Salary doesn't mean jack. It's cap hit that matters. Meaning he got a lower signing bonus than alot of other people.

Unguaranteed salary is better than a big signing bonus.

Stafford's base salary is 2 million this year. That's lowest for almost all QBs. If we're going by salary Cheeno.

We are going by contract. Not year over year salary. You are going by that.

The cash value of his contract puts him = with Brandon Flowers, another bust who got a major haul.

10th. His contract is tenth. No one cares about year over year. With a restructure CJ could be the lowest paid WR in one year. You offer Aquib Talib to be paid top 10 at his position and he's here, instead we pay Houston. LOL Mayhew you are a star buddy.

His cap hit is 26th. Year by year is all that matters because you can always change the number.

They might restructure Houston this year (adding 600k to each year). And Tulloch and Calvin.

Houston is being paid the proper amount based on him being a free agent now a rookie at the time and based on his performance in 2011/2012 to earn that contract.

2010-2012 Houston can return to that. 2013 was mainly due to injury anyway for the 2 long bombs other than Green. If he does it will be a great thing for Detroit.

I'm going by cap hit which is the only thing that matters for the Lions to say if he's overpaid or underpaid in a given year.

Fuck the cap hit, that is because we are paying him until 2018!

We don't have to pay him until 2018. Most of his salaries are unguaranted. Easily cuttable or tradeable in 2015 if he sucks again in 2014. Based on 2010-2012 and health, he's getting another chance. And that's the correct call.

He got a fair deal deal. Especially compared to Finnegan/Carr the previous season.

We'll see if Houston can get back to 2010-2012 form and stay healthy. Until then don't fucking worry about it. Mayhew/Lewand have plenty of options for cap room. One of those moves could be restructuring Houston.

Not the restructuring monster again. And cut him or not we have dead money associated with Houston until the end of the 2017 season.

Sorry everyone isn't on a rookie deals or didn't draft a QB within the last 2-3 years. Sorry the old CBA and the desire for Tulloch/Levy/Quin/Bush/Houston on the team plus Avril franchised(right call at time) caused two restructures of Suh and Stafford each. Looking at those players, it's worth it.

Lions are managing the cap beautifully. Good free agents and draft picks for the most part. Avril and Gosder gone, no problem Ansah and Waddle. KVB/Peterman cap casualites and also suck. No problem. Burleson/Raiola willing to take pay cuts. No problem.

Stop fucking worrying about it. The Lions are doing a great job managing it. And will make moves this offseason (restructures, extensions to get the free agents they want and draft).

The Lions have done a terrible job with their cap. No one is on the old pay scale except Suh. These are new contracts!

Every fucking free agent signing has dead money. 2.6 of dead money will not kill the Lions. That's if we cut him in the first place. If he reverts to 2010-2012 form we don't cut him.

The Lions do a great job managing the cap in a shitty old CBA situation. The old restructures were necessary and are now adding 17 million to the Loins cap commitments for 2014 and 2015 (Stafford and Suh). Worth it for Tulloch, Quin, Levy and Bush on this team.

This is why you are a dumbass. Staffords cap number would be 7 million only based on new deal money. The restrucutres (that were caused by the Old CBA) add 8 million to his cap number. They are paying new deal and old deal still. Because they wanted to sign Tulloch. Got it?

And Staffords cap numbers would be HIGHER right now. If they didn't give him a new deal. Do you understand that. No. Let me show you. Click on the 2012 cap. 19.1 would have been Staffords cap hit without a new deal. It's 15 million now with 7 million new and 8 million from the restrcutures.
