Chargers, Rams, Raiders all file for relocation

And just like last time in LA, when the situation is optimal for the owner in the future, he'll bail on LA again. No loyalty whatsoever, it's all about money. It's really disgusting but as long as they keep making money hand over fist nothing will change.

St Louis got screwed plain and simple. Good sports town too, I've been there for Tigers games and their fans have been awesome.

I think the original move had as much to do with Kroenke and Frontieri originally from Missouri as anything else.

A lot of people are investing a lot of money into this deal into this deal to bring the Rams back to SoCal. I don't think Kroenke is going to be contractually allowed just to bail.

Probably still others scorned from before that moved on. And it's not about being better than 26th, not even sure how big their new stadium in 2019 will be. But if is say 10 years, they don't sell out, it's a failure.

I understand with the TV deals they will make money regardless but Goodell will have egg on his face if they don't sell out until the end of time. And based on football history in LA, it won't.

Why will he have egg on his face? Everyone is going to make more money because of this move. That is what they are in business for...to make money.

It might not happen in this decade or maybe even the next, but if/when a situation pops up (needs new stadium, etc) where money is involved, all bets are off.

The only team that is close to 100% locked into their city are the Packers. Because of how the ownership is structured, with shareholders and being 'fan owned' (it's really lip service, they vote for board members and that's it) they have poison pills in place that if the board were to vote for a relocation, ALL assets (players included) would have to be sold or released. A complete 100% rebuild. No other team has that and because of that no other team is safe if the price and situation are right.

Not like he doesn't have enough money, right? But he always insisted LA had all these fans and they all want football and this is good for everyone blah blah. I don't think I ever heard him say "this is all about the money."

not him...the owners. His job is to promote the league and make the owners money. Moving to LA is a win for the league and the owners. Good for the league means make more money. It's a business!

Then quit saying "this is for the fans." That's all I ask. If it's about more money then say it's about more money. But don't fluff it up like he's doing some service to the rest of us.

I never once heard him says "It's a business." Do you not get where I'm coming from?

I guess I gotta wonder why people are thinking St. Louis Rams fans are getting any more screwed over than Los Angeles Rams were Georgia Frontiere moved from LA/SoCal in the first place.

A lot of life long Rams fans I knew were pretty pissed off. I heard Lisa Guerrero on the radio today, who started her career with the Rams organization before becoming a sports journalist/investigative reporter, and she's still bitching about the Rams being "pilfered" from LA to this day.

The Los Angeles Rams were never any less viable attendance wise or in any other way. When Frontiere inherited the team after her husband Carroll Rosenbloom died under mysterious circumstances (a lot of people think she had something to do with it) Frontiere decided she wanted to relocate her team to her home town.

That was her primary motivation.

That's the point. They do it over and over. This isn't just about the current Rams but why keep doing it. Make the same mistakes. Whatever the reason's were the team left LA several times and came back.. Why does it change now?

What are you talking about?

The team was in Los Angeles or Orange County from its first season 1946 until 1994, the only time it relocated outside of the region.

The hasn't left LA several times at all.

I was only 10 years old in '94 but I imagine if I was an adult then I'd have been just as mad. Coincidentally I do remember thinking Cleveland getting screwed by Art Modell was a pretty shitty thing and that was just 2 years later, I must've had a football awakening around that time. I don't hate LA, hell I've only been to San Diego and San Francisco, so I have no dog in the fight.

They moved to Anaheim. Not far but still moved.. Especially if you lived the other way. 35 miles is enough to say "Can't do it."

And how about the LA Raiders? Does that not count?

It's about the distance from Tiger Stadium to Pontiac.

It doesn't count as a move. Lots of teams have relocated out to the burbs in their major markets.

No one says the Jets or Giants "moved" when they started to play home games across the river in Jersey.

Relocating to the burbs in the same market isn't a move.

At least I've never heard anyone refer to it as a "move" until just now.

And what about the LA Raiders? What are the Raiders supposed to count for regarding a claim that the Rams left Los Angeles and came back "several" times?

LA to Oakland, LA to St. Louis, LA to Anaheim (maybe that doesn't count but I did.) So maybe I should have said few. But even if you don't count Anaheim, it's still two and unless there's new math I don't know about, it's more than 1.

I suffer from the same affliction as most posters here; I'm an irretrievable/inconsolable Lions fan...

So I wasn't bothered when LA lost both teams but a lot of people were...especially Rams fans because the history of the Rams in LA ran much deeper than that of the Raiders...

I actually don't much care if the Rams return or not - but I would say I know the history of the Rams and the circumstances regarding their relocation to St. Louis...because I was here when it happened...so I'm just...ya know...making points about things people might not know...

I was responding to your claim that the Rams have left and returned several times; which is untrue.

The Rams never left LA to go to Oakland.

I don't know why you think/claim that but it just is wrong.

Then why did they call themselves the LA Raiders? Oh, and I forgot about the LA Chargers. AFL.

What?

When did the LA Rams call themselves the LA Raiders?

You do know that the Rams and the Raiders are two different teams/franchises/things, don't you?

If you don't - they are.

They have actually played against each other, over the years, however surprisingly not that often given their proximity.

Here is a little bit of their history in matchups.

As far as the LA Chargers of the AFL...the Chargers are also a different team/franchise/thing than the Rams.

Here is a little something about their history against each other...

I'm sort of at a loss to understand what the history of the Raiders or the Chargers with Los Angeles, both of which were relatively short, would be included as an indication of the Los Angeles Rams having "left and returned several times..."

Excuse me if I'm missing something, but I find it really quite illogical.
