Congratulations B1G! F@CK ohio

Who talks like this? I don't see anybody posting anything like this.

And nobody here brings shit to the battle. We're all just observers regardless of what somebody's mentality is or isn't.

Some people think the Buckeyes winning is bad for M; some people think the Buckeyes winning is good for the B1G and therefore good for M.

But whatever anyone's opinion on this is doesn't change shit.

Personally, since a B1G couldn't win the NC without the team being Ohio State, I didn't even watch the damn Championship game. I watched re-runs of The Big Bang Theory.

I did watch parts of a few bowls, but for me the season ostensibly ended when M was eliminated from the post season.

seriously.

No matter how much you try to twist the facts to fit into your argument, it's not going to work. I don't have any clue why you tried to take "Ohio state can use this to their advantage in recruiting" and turn it into us making excuses for Jim.

Ha, ha...

Has Harbaugh even sat across a single high school prospect in his parents' living room yet?

I have no idea if the positives outweigh the negatives regarding recruiting or perceptions or any of that. I don't really care, it's far simpler than that. They are the bad guys, so I want them to lose and not win national championships. To the degree that conflicts with my desire to face as top-notch an OSU as possible, I deal with it.

I did watch most of the game from the bar at the hotel in Phoenix. Went up to the room and popped on HBO or something when it got to the 4th quarter. Others in bar were in town for Barrett Jackson auto show but from Ohio and rooting for ohio state.

The bartender is from Novi and a Sparty fan (Wings, Lions, Tigers) and I said "I bet you $100 that dude there getting all loud didn't go to osu." He told me the next night he asked the guy and sure enough, nope.

Tuesday night back at the hotel that evening having dinner and some osu fans came through and were rather obnoxious, knowing the bartender was a Sparty fan. One guy in particular kept after it ..."How about Michigan State now?!" "How's Michigan doing?!"

Finally my boy behind the bar goes, "Hey I'm a Spartan fan, not Michigan first of all and second ...I was rooting for you guys in the Title game!"

This is my bottom line as well. Call me salty, I don't want to have to put up with it from their fans and that was my biggest motivation while I was watching the game. O hate them so much that the thought of touting for them makes me physically ill.

However, I do not even begin to agree with the sentiment that the conference perception thing outweighs the fact that smug asshole can't hold this over our heads with recruits. However, that thought hasn't even occurred to me until some folks started posting their big ten bologna.

So, bottom line, **** OSU.

Whichever phrases you're reading that make you think that people that aren't all "rah, rah, OSU" can't see the silver lining.

1. Please tell me you are not saying I'm a Bucknut.

2. No one has to be "rah, rah, OSU" to grasp my points.

3. I have only been trying to bring a level of hope, inspiration, and encouragement. To be the best, you not only have to beat the best but should want to have the best as your competition, for only then can you get a true sense of being "best". This is the conundrum many have mentioned. Do I want OSU to be the best? No, but if they are, then so be it. Target is acquired, now take them out.

Even putting The Best in quotes like "The Best" diminishes the point.

to phillip's constant point. Win and you are the best. not, "The Best"

wow, my apologies. I didn't realize I was diminishing the point. won't happen again...I always thought the line from The Victors had leaders and best capitalized, apparently I was wrong. I made a mistake, won't happen again, promise. it is not my intent to diminish UM, never has been. thank you for pointing this out to me, and again, my apologies for my misunderstanding.

Um... There's a huge difference between "I hope they win because it's good for the conference" and "If they won, go beat them". Just admit you've been swayed and this thread can finally die.

I'm not. Just because I think you go too far in one direction doesn't mean I'm going to go too far in the other direction. I get your point. In fact, I think most everybody is pretty close to being on the same page with how they react to things. We just express it differently and go too far in telling other people how they should say it. In your case, somehow you drifted from everyone being entitled to their opinions to "my god you guys are a bunch of doom and gloom".

you are continually proving my point about recruiting. you keep saying they cant get #1 and #2 lol. well if they get #1 each time, unrealistic, then what you are saying is you are ok with leftovers. our goal should always be to get the best talent available for the positions we need and who fit the system. if #1 is who we want and they choose osu it proves everyones point. whether you like to admit it or not, while michigan always gets good recruits, osu continually gets better recruits. if their coaching staff does what they have been able to do so far, than osu getting better recruits is not a recipe for success for michigan.

show me where in the history of recruiting that one team was able to capture even 50% of the #1s in a recruiting class.

if a kid decides to go to OSU, then that is who they chose. that does not mean that UM cannot win just because OSU got a better class according to some ranking system. far more important are the coaches, and I believe the UM coaches are better than OSU's now that Harbaugh has put together his staff. time will tell, and it might take a few years to come to fruition, but there is far more talent available in recruiting than any singular team is able to acquire.

I never said I hoped OSU would win the NC. Not once. I only stated that IF they won, there are benefits for UM and the B1G. people are arguing those benefits are not legit, and I've been backing up my points. others have agreed with me, but I'm the one who has been condemned. guess I was too aggressive with my comments for some, but they always emanated from a place of love for Michigan football and hopeful renewal of them being leaders and best above all else.

God almighty, give it a rest. Why should anyone be able to tell you who you want to win or lose in a game?

I could hate the arrogant Ducks more than O$U. I could have family members that went there. Why are folks getting all bent out of shape over someone feeling good over the Big Ten winning bowl games?

Who the **** really cares whether some perceived good in them losing outweighs some perceived good in having them win? It is about the most subjective thing I have ever heard. I get it is off-season - but questioning anyone's fandom over something this ridiculous is inane.

KAWDUP you don't think this thread is pretty using?

I do.

I certainly don't mind the personal stuff in the Diggler forums, but when it starts to get personal here, especially inferring anyone is less of a fan for something so stupid, I decided to take a stand.

:argh:

i could have sworn i put unrealistic next to that. im not saying they will get every #1. what i am saying is them winning gives them the edge over getting said athlete that wants to go to both schools and values osu winning the NC. there is no way any recruit see osu winning the NC as a downside for osu so in turn it is bad for michigan in that sense.

I haven't made it personal. I'm aware that zyxt has been called some extremely inappropriate names, but I felt it was a reasonable and civil debate for the most part.

I think so too; this has been way tamer than the Diggler forums, not to mention this board, here and ESPN from the RichRod days.

I cannot disagree with this, but will counter that OSU already had thus edge so I'm not sure the degree to which the NC provides that much advantage for them. Obviously OSU's successes and UM's not would automatically give OSU this advantage, but yes they certainly have the edge right now.

Names aside, I've been admittedly the less civil in all if this. Trying to tone it down. I do get the hatred for OSU part so I can understand the passion there.
