I guess the other hing the pandemic taught me is how many people in our society are okay with 100,000s dying per year (not to mention the non-trivial number of people who recover but suffer from longer term health effects) as long as they aren't inconvenienced in any way. AT ALL. Convenience completely outweighs another human's life.
I'm not being sarcastic... it's a good lesson. I needed to learn it.
The data from the study is the data. People in the lockdown states were no safer those in the free states.
Just like I knew and said it was going to be.
And I have no objection to inconvenience if it results in real and a true safety.
Everyday I avoid running over pedestrians while I?m driving when it would much more convenient to go, ?ah, just fuck it.?
To me that is a vastly more quantifyable example of compassion and empathy than the wearing of some stupid mask that study after study after study has demonstrated to be worthless.
And I?m not being sarcastic; I really don?t run over pedestrians.
