Delmas' deal pretty cap friendly

Dude we have major holes, I heard this story about how Willie Young and LoJack are better players than Avril and KVB and how Peterman rule but his foot is injured, there is a reason why some guys are back ups and there is a reason why some guys suck and it is not because of untapped potential or a litany list of excuses. And btw the guys that did see them in practice everyday kept them as backups and got us 4 wins. Bottom line not everyone is full of untapped potential or is waiti g for their shot. IMO those holes are going to be adequately fill by most of the garbage on the roster. I do like Palmer and am holding out hope on Reiff the rest of the scuba though is like betting on 99-1 shots. So you're saying there's a chance.

Palmer, Nagy and Reiff could all be better. It's not 99-1. It's 50-50 at worst. Same with Bartell over Lacey and Florence. It's in favor of Bartell being better than both of them.

And they didn't bench Backus and Gosder because they played well. They were not why we went 4-12. Nagy was on IR so he couldn't take over for Peterman. Plus the old Oline coach who they fired was Petermans Oline coach in college.

Well you hit the nail on the head there. We were 4-12 and had to know at that point Godser and Peterman weren't coming back.

And they planned incredibly well getting Reiff and Nagy. Plus re-signing Hilliard to a 2 year deal.

When you're 4-12 you bench one of the three guys that you know won't be back for your future what? Fullback? The clearly had no confidence in the guy. Hilliard is nothing but a career backup and Nagy is a practice squad guy. Like I said...holes. And that is just on the oline.

But we have Jason Jones at DE and Bartell/Bentley/Green at CB. Lol.

"A little bit like the offensive line, we have guys available who we developed," Lions coach Jim Schwartz said. "I think Ashlee Palmer has some similarities to Corey Hilliard as far as the way he came with us, became a special teams player, been on the field for us. He started a couple of games for us, including that Jacksonville game that we talked about. The sign of a good player like that is that you didn't even notice a player missing."

Schwartz also suggested Whitehead and Lewis, who played a combined three defensive snaps as rookies, are prepared for a larger role in 2013.

"We saw good things from those guys as they went through the practices and everything else," Schwartz said. "You guys might not see the development of a Jason Fox or a Tahir Whitehead or a Travis Lewis except for what they do on Sundays, on special teams and things like that, but the accumulation of reps, and what they do on the practice field, gives us confidence we will be able to find that."

So he's mentioning guys that haven't done jack. Fox, Whitehead, Lewis etc. We don't know what they will do. Even Schwartz says they're basically ST players. Some of those anyway. Doesn't give me a whole lot of confidence..

Schwartz has confidence and has seen the practice reps. Can't have superstars at every position. Palmer has some experience too. 2 games he started we won this year.

Yes, its great that our 4th round pick's are ST only. It's great that Fox is in the mix when he hasn't done a thing. And if Palmer/Whitehead are taking over Durant's position, we in trouble.

Your positive is almost asinine. The Lions could win 10 games, I won't argue that - but we still have some major holes. The only guy we added on defense is Jones and Quin, yet we lost Durant and Avril.

It all depends on the draft but Mayhew hasn't proven he can draft those mid round guys. We should get 3 instant starters with our first 3 picks. Not a starter, a backup and a ST player.

Lions got 3 starter quality in Reiff, Broyles and Bentley in 2012. They'll get 3 more this year. Lions were deep at tackle and WR but obviously Mayhew is a genius seeing the future issues at Tackle and WR.

Whithead was a 5th round pick though they gave up a 4th. Mayhew had the comp pick in his back pocket. It takes time but the Lions could get production from Palmer, Whithead or Lewis and Hilliard/Fox and Green/Greenwood.

You can say just about anything except the name Fox. Injured, Injured, played 10 minutes. Basically his 3 years of production.

He played some, and he threw 40 in year 3. This is year 4 for Fox and he hasn't played any. There is a difference.

No there isn't. Lions had good tackles already on the team to limit Fox in year 3. Doesn't mean Fox is bad as Backus/Gosder played well and Reiff is a good player. Fox could be a stud tackle in 2014. We'll find out soon.

No he doesn't talent wise. Schwartz doesn't think he blows either. They tendered the guy for a reason. We'll see what happens.

:hehe: What's Schwartz suppose to say "You suck, dude."

Yeah they were such starter quality, they never actually started.
