Detroit Lions - Team Notes

Kerry Hyder, he of the $18K fine earlier this preseason, has two sacks tonight for the Lions. Lions DL had two sacks and a TFL last drive. Zettel/Hyder sacks, Reid TFL. Hyder got the start tonight, too. Not saying he's making the roster but perhaps that's a closer battle than initially thought at reserve DE with Brandon Copeland and Anthony Zettel.

Lions WR Anquan Boldin was interviewed by FOX2 in Detroit and was apparently asked if he has tried a Coney dog yet. His response was pretty great: "Not yet. I'm looking forward to it. I've been trying to stick to my diet during camp, but we'll have a couple free days and I'll have a chance to get one."

Jay Lee was an early camp star for the Lions. In his last chance to make a case for a roster spot he's doing what he can. The undrafted rookie from Baylor has six catches for 78 yards and a touchdown on 10 targets. In his first three preseason games, he had three catches for 16 yards combined.

In a game where almost all their starters sat, a few players stood out for the a Lions. Kerry Hyder seemed to be in the backfield all day. Jake Rudock was efficient, threw three touchdowns and had command of the offense. Jay Lee and Jace Billingsley both had touchdown catches and made cases for the final receiver spot in a 31-0 win over the Bills.

Multiple Lions players said they were told to stay in town this weekend as cuts are coming if they are not starters. First time multiple players have mentioned that before. Kerry Hyder is having his wife and daughter come up. Orson Charles' girlfriend will be in town, too.

Lions' offense still a question after first-teamers sit vs. Bills.
