The Lions agreed to terms with LB Paul Worrilow on a one-year deal. Worrilow was with Atlanta last year, where he had 386 career tackles with four sacks and two interceptions.
He should compete for a starting linebacker spot in Detroit, which needs to add speed and depth in free agency.
Worrilow, 26, should compete for a starting job on a defense that returns both DeAndre Levy and Tahir Whitehead at linebacker.

The Lions also return Antwione Williams at linebacker after a promising rookie season, and special-teams standout Thurston Armbrister.
Josh Bynes, who played well after returning to the team at midseason following an August knee injury, and Jon Bostic will be unrestricted free agents at 4 p.m. Thursday.

Worrilow could legitimately contend for a starting role in 2017 considering the questions surrounding the Lions current set of linebackers.
DeAndre Levy has battled injuries and Tahir Whitehead struggled in a full time starting role in 2016.
Antwione Williams, Steve Longa, Thurston Armbrister and Brandon Chubb will be fighting for a roster spot, but at this point in their respective careers, Worrilow has a leg up on all of them considering he has 44 starts under his belt.

Detroit Lions tender offer to Cornelius Lucas.

The Lions have given Cornelius Lucas an original tender. Since the OT was undrafted it means they can match any offer he might get in free agency. He has been Detroit's No. 3/4 tackle last two years. His one-year tender is $1.797 million.

Lions re-sign DT Khyri Thornton.

The Lions have confirmed the re-signing of DT Khyri Thornton, which ESPN and media sources reported Tuesday.
The Lions did not disclose terms, but his contract is for two years at $3.3 million -- including a $325,000 signing bonus. He also has a workout bonus of $225,000 based on his weight.
Thornton could compete with A'Shawn Robinson for a starting DT role but will be, at worst, a rotational DT for Detroit.
