Cook was ranked as the number 11 tight end by PFF; Ebron ranked 49th. A large portion of that difference can be attributed to PFF’s evaluation of each player’s run blocking.

So far, 69 percent of Detroit Lions fans have given the Ricky Wagner signing an A grade. However, ESPN?s Bill Barnwell isn?t quite as enthusiastic.

He gave the signing a B-, offering the following explanation for his grade:
The Lions have a relatively cheap offensive line by virtue of lining up draft picks on rookie deals at every other spot (pending any decision to retain guard Larry Warford), so it will be easier for them to swallow the premium they're paying for Wagner.

The Detroit Lions are releasing LB DeAndre Levy. Levy had been Detroit's top linebacker when he signed his contract extension in 2015, but played in only six games since as he dealt with hip and knee injuries. That kept him off the field and was a big part of why he's being let go by Detroit.
This makes linebacker a huge need for the Lions.

Just got off the phone with ex-Lions LB DeAndre Levy. Wasn't surprised by his release. Said Lions never came to him with a pay cut offer. Said it would have depended on circumstance if he would have taken one but he knew he couldn't come back at his old cap number.
Said he spoke to Bob Quinn and Jim Caldwell this afternoon. "It's a part of the business," Levy told ESPN. "I wasn't healthy the past two years and just from that standpoint I expected something to happen being a pay cut or a release or trade or something. Just being around long enough and seeing how it happens and I kind of knew I was in that position. That's how it played out for me."

Physically strong interior DT. Won't be a numbers guy, but plugs up gaps and gives good effort. Also a good guy to have in the locker room.
