Some highlights from the first day of Lions training camp:
Best play: Backup safety Alex Carter, who is transitioning from cornerback, read a Jake Rudock pass perfectly and ended up with a jumping interception while fighting for the ball with Jared Abbrederis. He has a ways to go to make the roster but this is a good start.
Rookie report: Nothing stood out of note with the rookies, although receiver Kenny Golladay continues to make progress. He looked fairly fluid on the first day of camp.
Overheard: More like seen -- the Lions had a drone flying above practice Sunday. When Jim Caldwell was asked if it might replace his beloved ladder cam, he laughed, saying "nothing replaces the ladder cam." Caldwell said it isn't for football purposes, but media.
