Verlander, who struck out 10 and allowed three runs on just three hits in seven innings, is now 100-57 in his career. He is the 16th pitcher in franchise history to reach 100 wins.

Verlander became the Tigers pitcher who reached 100 wins the fastest since Denny McLain achieved the feat in his 189th outing (181 starts and eight relief appearances) during the 1969 season. Verlander reached 100 victories in 191 starts.

Valverde set a franchise record for 33 consecutive saves in a season without a blown save. He entered the game tied for the record with Guillermo Hernandez, who converted 32 consecutive save opportunities during the 1984 season.

It is the 100th career win for Verlander, the most by any active Major League pitcher under the age of 30. Just 15 other pitchers in Tigers history have reached the century mark. He reached 17 wins for the fifth time in six full Major League seasons.
