Dirks

Lefties bat .281 off Masterson, righties bat .225. Cabby has hit him well though. Seems like Jimmy is FINALLY getting the idea that you can adjust your lineup according to the other guys' starter.

This would probably be our best bet swapping out Boesch and Young in the DH hole and having Q and Dirks man the corner spots especially from a defensive point of view.

I'll say this one more fucking time... Dirks is our 2 hitter regardless of who's pitching, and yes I think he's an up and comer.

Dirks is playing better at the MLB level than he ever did in the minor leagues. He has hit the ball great for the Tigers but what you see now is not what he is going to be going forward. He may be a solid player but he is not a .330+ hitter. As far as him always being the #2 hitter....I have no problem with dropping him in the order vs. a LH starter.

Why does someone have to slow down because his "minor league" numbers weren't near as good? And no one expects him to bat .330. I mean how many players hit .330?

But it doesn't mean he can't be better at the ML level than he was in the minors. Check Miggy's first 3 years in the minors, they sucked.

Dirks is 26 years old....Miggy was 18 & 19 when he was in the minors. Dirks is a fine player but I don't expect that he will be anything special.

If Dirks is a average to fringe all star, I think that would be fine. I don't think anyone expects Cabrera-like numbers. The problem arises when those type of players hit like Raburn did this year.

I would be thrilled if Dirks ends up being a solid OF (.280-.290 hitter with 20 HR) for the next 5-7 years. I don't expect he will be any better than that but I hope I'm wrong.
