Draft Day 3 Thread

Agreed, I did watch 2 Miss State games last year, and will admit that I was watching them to see Johnthan Banks, but quickly diverted my attention to Slay. His speed caught my eye right away. Love this pick, rounds 4 on, not so much

Jags grabbed Dennard I think we wanted him. Should have went Dennard and then Thomas if that was the case. I think that screwed them up. Would have like to draft some more depth than the punter and fuller but whatever. That being said punter was a need.

I can see a dt picked here for depth. Kind of lacking in that area now. I'd really like to see a kr/pr, too.

Dnnard pick is a head scratcher after they picked ace earlier. Fuller might take robiskies spot????

Who would you have wanted in Rd 2 at DE though, Carradine?? We got a DE that is completely healthy, and a corner who IMO is in alot better shape(injury wise) than Milliner. Honestly wouldnt swap the 2 picks.

So, basically, signing that internet punter was just to get attention.

like i said its a tough call....anyone there in rd 2 is better than what we had on the roster....so thats what im looking at. Milliner would be an automtic starter opposite Houston and any DE we got in rd 2 was going to be better than willie young. Ansah starts, sure....but imn ot sure how good he would have been over the rd 2 guy. And im not sure about slay starting for sure...

If im being honest i think Green bay got a more solid DE than we did and they picked like 20 picks after us.

Justice Cunnigham would be a decent look at TE

Tight End Specific Traits
Separation Skills 4 A one speed route runner. Does a nice job sticking his foot in the ground out of cuts. However, he lacks fluidity and has some tightness getting in and out stem. Lacks pop out of cuts and won't run away from many defenders. Shows some savvy when executing double moves. Has a strong feel for soft spots working against zone coverage. Navigates through traffic well.

Ball Skills 2 A natural pass catcher. Possesses big and soft hands. Rarely allows the ball into his body. Can extend and pull in tough catch out in front. Also flashes ability to pull in acrobatic one handed catch. Not overly flexible but adjusts well to throws outside of the cylinder. Uses frame well to shield defenders with contested throws. Lacks length and leaping ability (31.5 vertical) and doesn't have the ability to create a matchup advantage in jump ball situations.

Big Play Ability 4 Versatile athlete. Can line him up all over the field, including in the backfield and as a Wildcat triggerman. Very good athlete for the position. Shows good burst off the line and can get down the seam quickly. Shows good initial burst after the catc

Competitiveness 1 Tough and willing to do the dirty that is necessary for the position. Fearless and plays big in traffic. Shows good focus to secure contested throws. A determined runner after the catch and fights for extra yards. Flashes a stiff arm and will lower shoulder to finish runs. Physical at the point of attack. Works to sustain and finish blocks. Will look to throw second effort blocks downfield or off of a broken play.

Blocking 2 Strong inline capabilities. Plays with eyes and takes quality initial angles to establish position. Comes off the ball with proper pad level and leverage. Possesses an above-average inline power base. Keeps feet moving upon contact to get movement on defenders. Appears to have strong hands and can torque and steer defenders once able to latch on with proper hand placement.

There's a kid from now where, Demetrius Harris, 6'7 230 former basketball guy that runs a 4.5. Seems to be a project draft and he should be available UDFA, but I think they need another TE at some point to eventually replace Tony Scheffler.
