Dwight Howard

It's hard to give them an F when they weren't going to get anything for him if he played this year in Orlando. Also, hinges on how those picks pan out. I'd say incomplete at worst.

I rather have a player like him for a year, knowing he's bolting, than get a bunch of shit.

And I'll give you a hypothetical. Baseball, Miggy decides 2013 is his last season in Detroit. Do you trade him to Oakland for Inge or keep him for a year and get nothing? Because that's pretty much what Orlando got.

How is 3 first round draft picks and cap relief shit? If you're starting fresh, those are generally the things you want.

Is it face value? Of course not, but they weren't going to get face value. Saying you'd rather have him for a year, on a team that's going no where, when he's not playing at his 100% anyways seems silly to me.

He traded a star for Brandon Inge. That's all.

Why? They're not winning before or after so why not keep the star in hopes it sells some tickets etc.

I like the deal a lot for Philly..they were never getting over the hump with Iggy. He's a great player for a team with a star but he's not THAT guy. (Kind of like Danny Grainger)..if they can resign Bynum it's a grand slam.

Orlando should have taken the Brooklyn deal, that was solid. Lopez is an above average center, Humphries has a better rebounding rate than Howard, Mershon Brooks is a nice young player who has proven he's NBA talent in 1 year, and you still get picks that you can bundle and trade.

Orlando handled this situation about as well as Dwight Howard.

Are the Lakers favorites in the West over OKC? tough call.

Lakers are the favorite overall in my book now.

Magic got so screwed, like this is the worst superstar trade ever. Worse than the Gasol trade for a 1st and Kwame.

Gotta agree. Especially on the trade.

Magic wanted:

Draft picks to rebuild - I guess they did, but they are protected. You don't get superstars picking in the 25-30 zone.

Salary Cap Relief - No, they still have Hedo, Duhon, Davis and they lost Richardson but they actually took on more troublesome salary in this trade.

Young Players to build around - No, Harkless isn't someone you build around.

This shit is why I hate the NBA so much. Seriously, just fucking dumb. Oh but people will say the Thunder did it without being a big city. Yea they also hit on every roster move (trade, signing, draft picks) in a 3 year window (which is nearly impossible and extremely lucky).

Didn't a trade to houston get nixed by Stern? What were they getting in that one?

Houston trade?

Patrick Patterson, M. Morris, Royce White, Terrence Jones, Jeremy Lamb, Kevin Martin, and 3 1st round picks (including Toronto's 1st next year via Lowry trade)

Orlando giving up Howard, Glen Davis, Hedo, and Chris Duhon

When will you people realize the Magic didn't get screwed??? They did this by choice. They had plenty of opportunities to get better but they did this. They LOST but they didn't get screwed out of anything. Management handled this situation terribly.

Lost, screwed same thing. They got HOSED, Taken, force to pick up the soap, shower scene from American History X, etc etc

I htink the only Stern disapproval was the CP3 deal where Pau would have gone to Houston..maybe thats what he's thinking of.

force to pick up the soap---------- They chose to pick up the soap. Thats my point..no one did this to them. Lost and screwed are different. LA got screwed when Stern vetoed CP3.... Orlando lost because they made a dumb deal by their own choice.

Its been rumored that Stern wasn't allowing the Houston trade to go through. Which makes sense because who would turn that deal down.

Sure they mishandled the situation with Howard. But, Howard my favorite player, messed up big time. He kept flip-flopping and it put the Magic in a bad spot. Up until the end of the season Dwight was going to be a Magic long term. Then he gets hurt, changes his mind and then wants out. Then says trade me to 1 of these three teams. Players have too much sway in the NBA, they are employees, not managers.

Again...Orlando empowered him...their fault.

Whatever Beez, there is no changing your mind on this.

I just can't even begin to understand how you guys blame this on Howard. All the Magic had to do was be firm with him.. instead they allowed him to lead them on. Howard did nothing wrong..They treated him like the hot girl at school..they had their shot with some good looking chicks but decided it was bang or bust with her... and when she decided date the team captain instead of the kicker, everyone else already had dates to the dance.

Orlando fucked themselves..they should signed him or made a deal when they had the chance...he was gonna ink a deal last year and they told him to sleep on it.....they could have dealt him for above average players..they decided no....they could have just unloaded cap with Turk, richardson and howard in some scenerios....instead they dicked around until everyone had their guys and either had to trade for this shit or let him walk.

Orlandos management handled this terribly.
