Fielder for Kinsler trade

DD isn't done, they could still go either LF or 3B, and Jackson 'might' be on the block too.

Well they are saying 30 million going back to Texas. This takes the deal from a clear win by the Tigers to a slight win IMO. Overall, a good trade. I'll remember Prince most for his post season belly flop both figuratively and literally.

Not to mention this statement regarding being knocked out of the postseason, "It's not really tough for me," Fielder said. "It's over. I've got kids I've got to take care of. I've got things I've got to take care of. For me, it's over, bro."

He's just going to get more out of shape and worse every year from now until the end of the deal. At least Kinsler will probably try to turn up in shape. Great deal.

against Tigers pitching; for his career, Ian Kinsler has hit .200/.298/.329 in Comerica Park... 36 games spanning 162 plate appearances.

Worst fielding runs ALL-TIME among 1B:
PRINCE FIELDER -92
Jason Giambi -83
Willie McCovey -78
Jim Bottomley -73
Bob Watson -68

Trade Jackson, get back solid prospects and/or MLB ready LF. Castellanos to 3b maybe sign some capable cover. Extend Scherzer. Trade Porcello, Smyly to rotation. Sign Jacoby Ellsbury to a REASONABLE deal. No more stupid Fielder contracts please.

Another thing to note is the numbers Kinsler puts up on the road. The last 3 seasons he has a combined .231 AVG and a .690 OPS. Not exactly 16m a year numbers there.

Yeah I couldn't agree more with more still to come. All signs point to a higher chance the Tigers make a play for Choo or Ellsbury now.

Moving Miggy back to 1st makes sense BUT Castellanos lets not forget isn't the slickest of fielding 3B either and just spent an entire year in RF.

This a fucking terrible trade. Kinsler is a hack outside of Texas.

Kinsler Career

Home = .304 BAVG .387 OBP .511 SLG .898 OPS 9.32 PA/BB

Away = .242 BAVG .312 OBP .399 SLG .710 OPS 12.12 PA/BB

Last 3 years

Home = .294 BAVG .380 OBP .492 SLG .872 OPS

Away = .231 BAVG .303 OBP .387 SLG .690 OPS

Was out and kid said we traded fielder... Had to get conformation form Monster...
damn DD make some waves...
Not sure how I feel on it other then Fielder probably sealed his fate with his quote after losing the series to Boston..

Not sure how I feel about Kinsler yet..

A .260 hitter with 25 HR power and a skyrocketing strikeout rate?!?!? Dude hit .280 last year, he struck out less than his career average the past two seasons, and he's still good for a 35HR average and will likely hit that many or more in Texas. He's a better hitter than Vmart in every aspect except batting average.
In the postseason VMart has performed better than Prince on offense in every statistical category. Why did Prince's bat turn into a twig? :shrug: Prince: .194/.287/.333/.620 w/32 Ks 14 BBs, 11 RBIs, 10 xbh, 5 being homers, just 1 as a a Tiger in 164 PAs. Victor: .314/.377/.482/.859 w/19 Ks 11 BBs, 19 RBIs, 12 xbh 5 being homers, 3 with the Tigers in 151 PAs.

I was listening to the MLB on XM guys a day or two ago and they seem to think we've seen the end of the stupid Pujols/Fielder type deals. They don't think Cano is gonna get anywhere near the 10yrs/$300mil he's reportedly looking for, and they said even $200mil might be far fetched. They seem to think that GMs are finally realizing that they are getting burned nearly every time with these crazy long and expensive deals, and that guys are going back to normal aging once they hit their mid-30s now that PEDs are mostly out of the game. They were saying they'd be shocked to see deals going over about 5yrs for anybody over 30yrs old going forward. Everything they were saying made perfect sense, so I'd be willing to bet that it won't happen. LOL!

Kinsler is owed $62 Mil over the next 4 years and DET is offsetting the deal by $30 Mil. So we get Kinsler at a rate of $23 Mil per year over the next 4 years. Yup, I don't see the value.

Victor had an excellent playoffs, while Fielder absolutely sucked. No clue why that is, but the sample size is tiny in comparison to their careers. I'm not knocking Vmart when I say that Fielder is a better hitter in all ways except average, just stating the facts based on their career numbers. I like Vmart a lot, but the only real advantages he has over Fielder are attitude, leadership, and cost. Fielder hits for more power, gets on base more, moves around the bases better (although it's like watching snails race), is much healthier (not talking about being a giant fat ass, just saying that the guy plays every day whereas Vmart has been injury prone), and plays in the field (albeit quite poorly). That said, Fielder was making twice as much as Victor for a stupid number of years, and I'm happy to see him go for that reason alone.

It was just reported that Fielder had issues in the Tigers clubhouse, sometimes trades can't just be valued on $$ or stats alone.

Yeah he had really got under the skin of several players with his attitude this year and as well the comments he made after the season was over.

You just cannot say what he said after a playoff loss... I mean it was right after we lost...

Not surprised. Seems like he would get under a lot of people's skin with is atrocious attitude. Glad the Tigers don't have to deal with it anymore. And look, I'm not a huge fan of Kinsler going into his mid 30's. That deal isn't going to be amazing itself, but getting rid of Fielder is a big get for other reasons aside from just salary savings. That said, they have an extra 70 million in total over the next several years now, which is always good.

Bleh. If we aren't getting someone else in return this trade sucks ass.

People with short attention spans think Fielder was terrible, He's more valuable than Kinsler by a good bit.
