Fister Traded, now is retiring from baseball

I'm not saying DD knew of any injuries. What I think is that DD and others felt that maybe Fister was starting to break down and wasn't somebody they would be able to rely on long term. There were a lot of games in 2013 where Fister faded very quickly after the first few innings.

Even if what you imply is true, we still needed to get more in return. And according to a few GM's we easily could have.

You trade fair value for fair value. Again, you are implying that DD was willing to pull the wool over the eyes of another GM. And again, that is a slippery slope for a GM to do.

You trade fair value for fair value? LOL no you don't, you try to do as well as you can in a trade.

And DD did the opposite. He got far less value than he traded. You just nullified your post about DD being smarter.

DD knows more about baseball than you do, that's a fact.

I don't recall it ever being in question. Does not mean he is not doing stupid things that people with less baseball knowledge than him notice.

So the person with far less knowledge of the situation is the one better qualified to call it stupid. Dude, just get over yourself.

Fister did have this lat strain problem at least once if not twice with the Tigers the last two years.

Fister does no good on the DL for the Tigers if they still had him.

I am perfectly fine with the trade and am moving on with the players we got in return. Both of which we will see sooner than later.

The fact that someone is a MLB GM does not make them any smarter than some people I know. This is like saying that every congressman/woman is smarter at politics than a lay person.

I doubt there's a way to prove be would have gotten hurt here..

So you like this trade? One guy we shipped off for a 37 year old I haven't played SS in a long time guy, two low level prospects for a top 20 SP.

:bs:

Mabey they surprise but as Thumb said not in the top 100. On paper the deal stinks..I don't need to be a GM to know that. It's almost like he got hammered when he made this deal.

Robbie Ray is the #97 prospect in baseball and #10 LH pitching prospect. So he is a top 100 prospect. Still don't like the trade, but just throwing this in there. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/prospects/watch/y2014/#list=prospects

Look at Baseball Reference pages. For Castellanos, it lists rankings for Baseball America, MLB and Baseball Prospectus. He was ranked in all 3 and in multiple years.

Robbie Ray has never been listed in the Top 100 until this year and only in MLB.

Robbie Ray has a career minor league WHIP of 1.36 and a walk rate of 4.0 BB/G. He only averaged 5.25 IP/GS in 2013, 4.86 IP/GS in 2012 and 4.45 IP/GS in 2011. Can anyone honestly look at these stats and say they are from a Top 100 prospect?

Robbie Ray cannot finish games as a starter and has not developed 2nd, 3rd and 4th pitches. Until he can do those things, he is projected to be a LOOGY. The Tiger brass are hoping he will be more, but that does it make it so.

Should the trades of Fister and Fielder made it possible to sign Cabrera, And Ray pans out then it will become a great trade. Time will tell as with all trades!
