Game 1: Vikings @ Lions Thread

Looks like they did get their shit together in the 2nd half.

I'm so glad they did. Still gotta cut down on those mistakes, but staff was over 58% completions and only threw 1 pick like i had hoped. It's as good a start as we can ask for

We outrushed them 117-105 (they only had 22 carries to our 33). And we dominated the time of possession 36:19 to 23:41. Good balance on offense.

Stafford still threw a shit ton of passes, 43.....a 688 attempt pace.....but I never once thought the offense was completely one dimensional today. I think everyone but Pettigrew and Scheffler had a good day.

My game ball goes to Reiff. That Fullback had a great day against one of the NFL's best.

To be fair, the Lions ran a shit ton more plays (+24) so the numbers might be a bit inflated. We'll get a better view in the coming weeks on how balanced the offense is. Though I wouldn't mind seeing the short defensive series and turnovers continue.

I understand that......just saying we had balance today. If we keep that up teams will have to gameplan for it. Opening up a healthy dose of CJ down the field.

My optimism continues. Run d other than one play was tremendous. Bush as advertised. Bring on zona

Botched snap, pettigrew fumble and suh penalty negating pick 6 is concerning though.

The penalty on Suh was in my opinion not a very good call. The grew fumble is angering as is way to many team drops. The defense was very very solid. The negated touchdowns were infuriating. Pretty poorly called game by refs today. On the flip side I was incredibly impressed by Linehan and now have zero worries about Stafford. Bush changes this offense in the best ways and has really put a ton of pressure on the defense. Fauria deserved to make the team and played well. Calvin was still Megatron even without the big numbers he killed that defense by pushing coverage. Dline dominated the run game and after the big run the whole defense killed AP.

Hopefully they are isolated, but it looks more of the same, especially from 'Grew. Fauria had a good couple catches, maybe he takes some time away from the other TEs and not just in the redzone.

And Detroit won the turnover battle and could have scored more. The should be pick 6 turned to zero, starting at the 45 once turned to zero and the botched snap turned to zero. The two huge Viking penalties on the lions last td drive were very very helpful to get the 10 pt lead plus the fumble with ponder tripping on his guard to give them the short field in the first place. Huge divisional win at home.

Beat zona to get this started really right. Fairley is a beast.

The Lions absolutely were the much better team and would have annihilated the Vikings save for a few bad decisions or botched plays. Specifically the botched FG and Suh chop block.

Pettigrew needs to GO, he is shit.

Burleson quietly had a good game with some big catches too. One bad hold but the Vikings hit to head of stafford negated that. 6 catches for 78 yards. Take that all day for a number 2. Still a good free agency signing from mayhew :)

Only two concerns for me are the continued boneheaded plays, and not looking to throw downfield enough.

Bad call or not, Suh was way out of the play. Same with the Delmas fk up..think before you act.

I'm still worried about a good QB ripping apart our LB's. Fortunately for us, Ponder was well Ponder. But I'll take it..

After the first week we are officially first in the NFC North...being a Lions fan you take what you can get.
