Game 10: Panthers @ Lions Thread

Bleacher report saying sprained knee...no acl or mcl tear.

HUGE blow. The Bears D is for real. Our chances of winning with KJ aren’t good....the chances of winning without him are damn near 0.

I’d go with Zenner Thursday. Blount is awful. I haven’t seen him do ANYTHING this year that ZZ can’t do......which is sad. Keep everyone in their current role and see what Bleached Barry can do with 15 carries. Waste the normal amount of plays letting Blount touch the ball.

Thought he wasn't going to know until the MRI on Monday. If they're already determining that it's not a tear, it might not be nearly as bad as expected.

Or it's just shitty reporting. We'll see!

The Lions are the Lions. They will have no chance to win vs. the Bears but something will happen and they will win. The way this season is going, the Bears kicker will miss 4 FGs. After the win, most Lions fans will get their hopes up and then the Lions will crush those hopes with several losses down the road.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Short week can close a talent gap I think. I still don't expect a win but it will certainly give them a chance.

The Lions have the 2nd best strength of victory (SOV) stat at .563 only behind New England at .572. We'll end up beating the Bears and Rams and then lose by 20+ to each the Bills and the Cardinals. :ugh:

The Lions have scored 14+ points in 28-straight home games, a franchise-record and the 2nd-longest active streak in the @NFL.

The team has also notched 2+ sacks in 9-straight home games, the longest active streak in the NFL.

Lions WR Kenny Golladay joins Calvin Johnson (2013, 2011, 2008), Germane Crowell (1999) and Herman Moore (1994) as the only @Lions to record at least 45 receptions, average at least 15.0 yards per reception and log 5 receiving touchdowns through the first 10 games of a season.

In their last 2 games vs. the Panthers, the Lions have held Carolina to a combined 84 rushing yards on 44 rushing attempts, holding them to an average of 1.9 yards per attempt.

Lions LB Jarrad Davis records sack No. 4.0 on the season, extending his career-high. Lions LBs have combined for 14.0 of the team's 28 sacks this season.

Lions LB DevonKennard notched sack No. 6.0 on the season, a personal-best and team-high. His total is the tied for the third-most sacks a Lions LB has had through Week 11 and the most since Michael Cofer had 6.0 sacks through week 11 in 1990.

Lions RB Kerryon Johnson has accumulated 206 rushing yards in the 1st quarter of games this season, the 5th-most in the NFL. His total of 206 rushing yards in the 1st quarter of games through Week 11 is the most by a #Lions RB since Kevin Jones had 260 in 200.

Lions DT Snacks Harrison who leads all NFL DTs with 51 tackles, has a chance to play in 17 games this season.
Since 1931, only Chris Singleton ('93), Dexter Carter ('95), Marlon McCree ('03), Micah Ross ('04), Jerry Rice ('04), Will Witherspoon ('09) and Will Allen ('13) have done so.

The streak is finally over. For the first time since being acquired prior to Week 8, Damon "Snacks" Harrison (@snacks) is not the highest graded defender in a game for the @Lions. He has been dethroned by rookie Tracy Walker (@TracyWalkerIII).

Kenny Golladay (@kgxix) took advantage of the extra targets with Marvin Jones missing Week 11 due to injury. Golladay's 14 targets were the most by a wide receiver.
The sophomore standout's 88.4 grade is 5th-highest by a WR in Week 11.

Pride Of Detroit Lions Blog Podcast: Tanking is a scam anyway; reactions from a Lions-Panthers win on PODcast. 86 minutes.
We?re dropping some truth and breaking down more from the Lions victory over the Carolina Panthers.

I don?t know if the Lions winning was meaningless or not, if we?re being perfectly honest.

All of this?sports especially, to say nothing about the existence of man against the cosmic white noise?is perfectly meaningless if you get down to it, with the only real value attached is entertainment and the emotional links self-imposed upon such. It may have importance to individuals, but that doesn?t ascribe it meaning.

But the win was fun, regardless, and I think that matters a lot more than whether or not you thought the win meant anything.

All that said, what this win didn?t do was kill the Lions? shot for a good draft pick. Consider that in 2014, the Lions had a top ten pick in that loaded draft class?nevermind of course they spent it on Eric Ebron over Aaron Donald, that?s another issue. The point there? The Lions were 7-9 that year.

It?s impossible to tank in the NFL, and even if it was possible, it?s a damn scam, the sort that would make those ghouls on Wall Street blush and figure out how to keep the SEC in the dark while they screwed over the world. It?s arbitrage of hope, asking you to give up all short-term joy in the prospects of more short-term joy in the future?and it may never come.

But anyway, to hear about this and all our thoughts from the Lions win over the Carolina Panthers, Kerryon Johnson?s injury and a preview of the Thanksgiving throwdown against the Chicago Bears, you should listen to the Pride Of Detroit PODcast. It?s out now, and it?s golden.

No First Byte this coming week, and we?ll be back with a new edition of PODcast after the holiday. Enjoy life with your families, people.

This week on the PODcast:
Riverboat Ron has folded his hand. The Lions win on a failed two-point conversion. How did it all happen?

Jeremy praises the run defense, the shining spot there that will only get better with time (or so we hope). Good hope too for the pass rush.

Kenny Golladay and Kerryon Johnson showed you why they?re the future for this offense.

Audible Dong returns as Special Teams MVP.

Tanking is a ponzi scheme: a lecture by Professor Chris Perfett. Refreshments served in the Rawls Lounge.

Mailbag has: more from the Lions game, Thanksgiving drinking selections, Jeremy?s horrific White Castle story, Owen Wilson, Adam Sandler, ?Curt? Cousins, the 2019 NFL Draft and those gray Lions uniforms.

If ONE MORE PERSON reminds me we could have Aaron Donald right now I?m gonna lose my shit!

Tanking is only a scam when you cant judge talent or draft well. Its very simple...tanking means you get to select your guy before anyone else does...thats all it means. Its a scam when you pick crap like best, leshoure, laken tomlinsonetc etc etc. If you know how to scout personnel to match your scheme...tanking can do wonders for you. Hence the parity in the nfl.

It actually means you can build a team well with a late first round pick, based on the same premise "if you know how to scout personnel to match the scheme." Teams like NE and Pittsburgh to name a couple don't tank.

Was A-A-Ron Donald available when the Lions selected? Who did they take instead? Surely, it was a stud that is still contributing to the Lions success. :lmao:

Not sure.....I heard he?s really tough to defend! A matchup nightmare.
