Game 10: Raiders @ Lions Thread

Catch 22, no INT the last two weeks but no passing TD's either. Yeah for expensive QB.

The problem is that they get wins, pick later and next year we're 2-7 again because we suck. I won't feel any better this season when we finish 6-10 vs 2-14. It's still another missed opportunity. The offense still can't score 20 points, and the same people keep their jobs, White and Caldwell.

Anyone think we'll winners now? The only thing this season has been good for is finally winning in GB.

How about watching your team win games? I'd rather watch them win and pick 10th then watch them lose and pick 1st.

Here is the fallacy of wanting to see the Lions lose in order to improve their draft position.

As shitty as the Lions might want to be, they have no ability to control the shittiness of all of the other shitty teams in the NFL.

So if the lions were to lose out, there's no saying that all the other shitty teams in the NFL will also lose out, and the Lions end up in the same shitty position for the draft as they are right now.

You get that?

So might as well be happy to see wins!

picking 10 means they only win about 2 more games this year. Therefor youre expecting them to lose a lot still this year lol.

I always root for them. But I want better than picking 10th. Still a bad season.

6-10 will put us around the 10th pick. Still some very very good players available there. I'd rather see them win.

Maybe that's just me.

Hey guys, I wrote this poem; what do you think?:

Joe Buck,

Joe Buck with a beard.

He looks like a fuck;

He looks fucking weird.

What do you guys think?

I'll be happy if they beat a bad Oakland team by playing well. The GB was the happy game. The offense didn't play well but they got the illusive win in GB.

I like when they win, feels better than when they lose. But a few more wins in a bad season doesn't mean much. I guess you can describe it as, I'm not happy about a team 3-7.

And I know this franchise.. 6-10 means status quo. And status quo is bad for this organization.

I don't honestly think anything means "status quo" for Detroit at this point.

I don't think Sheldon White has a prayer in hell of remaining GM, even if we win out the rest of the year. I don't think anyone is going to fight the new GM to keep Caldwell.

Martha has begun sweeping changes, and I just don't see that stopping any time soon. If we win the last 6, they still go get a new GM, and odds are, we still get a new coach. I suppose Caldwell could keep his job if there's just no one more qualified available who is willing to take the job (and that's the biggest question mark) but I have a hard time seeing it.

They haven't gone this far just to keep the status quo.

Yes.

After making the playoff last - and for the second time in a couple years for the first time in what - decades? This season sucks.

Anything short of a playoff win - which is what? chance in 500 now? Was going to be disappointing.

Not surprising though.

When I hear Mrs. Ford and White both say "wins", I get the feeling wins he keeps his jobs. They were 1-7, changes happened. They go 6-2, 7-1 who knows. Even though White can't improve this team he might have a chance. And that scares me.

As a side note, this offense isn't any better than last season.

What are they supposed to say? "Hey Sheldon, there is ZERO chance of you keeping this job, but try to find a way to motivate the team and get us some wins anyway, huh?".

He knows he's not the GM next year. Martha knows it. Wood knows it. They can't. Wood has already gone on record and said the "next" GM needs to come from a winning program. He's not saying "If we don't keep Sheldon, then the next guy....".... he's already planning for the next guy.

Martha has been too public of late. Letters to season ticket holders. Press conferences. Major firings. Working with the NFL to find a candidate.

She's got no where to go. She's locked in now. Sheldon is gone, and there's a new GM. Caldwell might manage to remain coach, but he will be on a damned short leash with a viable candidate waiting in the wings.

Nothing to do about that. We just differ on what we think Martha knows. IMO, I think she will give him an opportunity.

That's all assumption......you don't know what's going to happen any better than anyone else. I agree with Ink that White will not get a chance after the season.....they just need someone in the role to take care of the few duties a GM needs to do until after the season when they can talk to real candidates.

As far as the offense.....I saw some positive strides the last two weeks......but there is little chance for major improvement with that shitty ass oline they have.

I just can't see how. She's already said too much to retain him.

Plus, I think Wood is running the team now, and he hasn't given any indication about the job other than there will be a new GM, and he doesn't fit White's credentials, whoever he is.

I will add though, I would be surprised if White was fired.

He won't be the full time GM, but there's no reason to fire him either. He'll go back to his old job.

On another side note, going to my sister's for Thanksgiving. No Cable. No game. Yay, first time in life.
