Game 12: Bears @ Lions *Thanksgiving* Thread

I can put an order to that...

1. Dline. Pathetic. Lowest rated in the NFL.
2. Patricia. Proven he is not a good in game coach. Seems to be one of those guys that thinks his system is better than the players he has running it. Makes no adjustments.
3. Tight Ends. It?s only partly their fault.....as the play calling is certainly tailored to MJJ and KG.....which is hard to argue with. But James was signed and now he?s used less than Bawden .. and Hock has potential, but has been wildly inconsistent. So in summary......a highly paid FA and the #8 overall pick have fewer combined catches than Hunter Renfroe
4. Snacks. Most of the time I don?t notice he?s out there.
5. Quinn. Some good......but a lot of bad. Hockenson at #8......James.....Diggs.....Flowers (who is starting to look good) extending Jones......not addressing DE. Still so many holes to address 3 years in.
6. Oline. I expected them to suck.....so I?m not really disappointed in them.

Quin is my 1.... you can't be this many years in and still have this many holes. Positions that need to be improved:
Lg
Rg
De
Olb
Olb
Cb
S

And that's without addressing stafford slay or Wagner which they might have to do.

Quinn should be #1. He is the one that built this team. The Dline looks good on paper but he has yet to add a pass rusher. He highly overpaid for Flowers knowing he doesn't rush the passer. He gave snacks an extension when he could have made him prove it this year.

Quinn is the one that brought in Patricia after a 9 win season saying we needed to get over there hump. Not fall all the way off the hump and start climbing all the way back up.

Quinn taking a TE that high when this team has way bigger needs than the passing game. Also it was after he overpaid a TE in free agency.

Quinn and his oline picks have been garbage. When Decker isn't getting beat he is getting a penalty. He is a shitty version of Backus. We have had crappy guards forever. Ragnow has been ok so far. Wagner is way overpaid like Flowers, James, Coleman, etc.

Quinn will get one more year most likely and just think of all the ways he is going to blow this draft and over spend in free agency. It is just going to set back this team even more. I say rip the band-aid off and fire him now. Let the new GM see what he can get for Stafford and possibly Slay because this team is at least 3 seasons away from being a competitor in the playoffs. By then Stafford will be at the end of his legs.

Failclowns OL blows...but their punter is the man @ onside kicks.

IIRC, back during the depths of Lions losing teams under Millen, the NFL was considering taking away their traditional Turkey Day game, but the Fords somehow talked them out of it, maybe the Big 3 combined to threaten greatly reducing their advertising budgets for NFL games, or something similar.

Anyway, eventually the NFL added Thursday night games for nearly every week in the regular season...and no matter if the players like it or not.
I remember. And 30 teams rejoiced. Its a tradition so it should stay but who wants to do it every year? Them & Dallas.

Wrong

"It has remained a tradition for Dallas and Detroit to host the afternoon games dating back several decades. However, in recent years, other teams have expressed interest in hosting Thanksgiving games. Lamar Hunt, the former owner of the Chiefs (who had hosted Thanksgiving games from 1967?69 as an AFL team prior to the merger), lobbied heavily in favor of his team hosting a game on the holiday. When the NFL adopted a third, prime time game, the Chiefs were selected as the first team to host such a contest, but the team was not made a permanent host, and Hunt's death shortly after the 2006 contest ended the lobbying on behalf of that team."

Bo Scarbrough has been good, and that is becoming a trend. He joined Barry Sanders, Billy Sims and Mel Farr as the only players in Lions history to begin their careers rushing for 55-plus yards in their first three games. Scarbrough finished with 83 yards on 21 carries (4.0 average) against a Bears' defense ranked eighth against the run coming in. He?s averaging 4.5 yards per carry over his first three games.

Golladay caught four passes for 158 yards and a touchdown Sunday, bringing his season average to 20.2 yards per reception. He?s the first player since Randy Moss in 1998 to have 40 receptions and nine touchdowns while maintaining a receiving average of 20.0 yards or more through 12 games.

With nine TD catches each, Golladay and Marvin Jones Jr. have combined for 72 percent of the Lions? 25 TD catches.

Slay recorded an interception Thursday in the second half, which gives him at least two interceptions for the sixth straight season. He becomes the first Lions cornerback to do that since Lem Barney did so in 11 straight seasons (1967-77).
He?s also only the sixth player in league history to record his 100th pass defended in less than 100 games played (99).

When you put it this way it’s just truly ineptitude at its finest got rid of Caldwell for this! These guys are clowns

The other known fact with Trubisky is he struggles against the blitz. He's one of the worst quarterbacks in the league when opponents send an extra rusher. So what do the Lions do? They rush with four or fewer the majority of the game, and often rush with a premium on contain, defending the phantom threat of a quarterback who isn't interested in running.

The result, Trubisky has 3.14 seconds in the pocket on average, according to Pro Football Focus. Over the course of the season, that would be more than any starting quarterback in the NFL.
