Game 14: Vikings @ Lions Thread

I believe Drew Brees was top 5 first year. Not sure what is so complicated it takes over a year. Not like it's a new language, just a different dialect at most

Drew was already elite, so yeah he was still elite in the new system. Matt has seemingly taken a big step backwards this year. I'd like to think he can improve next year (the way his contract is structured, next year is the last before the team could realistically go in another direction), but I honestly don't know. I think he can bounce back to being slightly above average, which is damn good enough with this defense. But if he continues to be a "meh" QB, then I won't be upset to see him go.

Stafford clearly isn't perfect, but he has cut back on his late game turnovers. That killed us late in the season last year with all the INTs he was throwing up. He's playing like a game manager more lately with a great defense behind him. I'm cool with that, as it seems to be working for the most part. Obviously I'd like to see some more points put on the board though, especially early in the game.

His pass attempts are also way down from the past couple years, which is why his TDs and yard totals are also lower.

The problem with Stafford is that he isn't strong enough in any one facet to really be elite. He's not an accurate enough thrower to be an elite game manager. He doesn't make smart/quick enough decisions to be an elite gunslinger. He isn't athletic enough to threaten defenses with his legs. He has a big arm, which on it's own doesn't mean much of anything.

He's a mellower Jay Cutler. Jay has a better best, but a worse worst. Both big armed QBs who tend to get by more on their arm talent than acquired skill. Both might win you a superbowl if they are hot for a few weeks (like Joe Flacco) and have a complementary strong defense. Both might torpedo your entire season if they get on the wrong side of level at the wrong time.

He's already had 2 concussions? That's what he has to watch out for..once you get them it's hard not to keep getting them.

So Stafford is allowed two misses but "weapon" are not allowed to miss?

Ross missed and Bell missed. Two missed. Ross wasn't a TD anyways. True 1 TD 61%

They are allowed to miss but it's not Stafford's fault. Stafford did his job and deserved a TD. Actually Ross isn't allowed, he doesn't make enough plays. Stafford gets 2 misses because he makes a ton of good important plays every game.

True 3 TDs and 67%

So Rodgers had a 90+ yard game winning TD to Nelson on Sunday. True GB win and the Lions are in true second place in the division. Is that how it works?

I wouldn't of called him elite at that point. He had one very good year, and a few average to below average years. Not like teams were fighting over signing Brees.

I believe this was the year we decided Kitna was our best bet. Would of been interesting to see what would of Hellenes if we decided to go after Brees

absolutely that's how it works. Lions are truly in 2nd place and the 5 seed....someone call the NFL and tell them their standings are wrong.

Lions had a true win against Buffalo too. Lions still in first.

And Buffalo had about 20 other should be picks on Rodgers. Plus Packers lost by 8. Would have failedo on 2 points. True loss for Green Bay

Didn't Buffalo miss some fgs too. True loss, 10-4. If we would've made a fg buffalo would've scored another td anyway

I love how you all try to bash Lions wins. Shows your true colors. You should root for the Bears.

were not bashing the lions....were making fun of you, and your ridiculous made up true stats that really didn't happen but you live in some fantasy land.

I can't find a single one of these rules in the rule book.

To me you are what your record and stats say you are.

Lions are a good team, with very good defense, and an below average offense. Think that was demonstrated rather well this past Sunday.

If we can't put up at least 30 again against the Bears we have serious issues.

I'm less worried about the number of points we put up than I am about our overall play.

If we win 28-10 I won't think we have "serious issues". That said, if we win 38-35 ill be pretty worried.

People just looking for a certain number of points are just searching to find a reason to be disappointed in a 10-4 team.
