Game 3: Lions @ Vikings Thread

Maybe I?m nuts but I actually don?t mind the FG call there. I expect an NFL kicker to make that the majority of the time. It?s the 3rd and a foot long pass attempt to Chark and the stupid run call on 4th down with a slow developing delayed handoff that I hated.

Just looked it up. The average rate of success from 54 yards is 61.27%

It was still a stupid call. Either go for it or punt.

He's 2-6 from 50+ and has never made one that far in his career. So many reasons not to try fg and yet here we are

My dad is in the hospital with Covid pneumonia and pre existing COPD and emphysema today was better than yesterday on that front at least, we watched the lions lose from his hospital bed today, and of all days I could have really used a lions victory to help keep some gas in my tank which I thought we were getting until 45 seconds left in the game I can?t even begin to tell you much this one really hurt.

I am so tired the lions being such a life long disappointment

Seems like I might soon welcome you to the club.

Both my parents have been gone for over 10 years.

When the time comes, they go. Seen it with my own two eyes.

Dude for the love of God, do yourself a favor and don?t link your parents? survival to the success of the Lions.

That?s like linking them to an anchor and chucking them overboard.

Detroit had 19 players register a tackle today. None of them were name Hutchinson. Interesting first 3 games for the rookie

That?s not what I?m doing, I?m all he has and going it alone, I need to keep myself healthy too. It?s too much to ask for the lions to not puncture a hole in the gas tank. But It is what it is I guess

We?ve gone for coaches who never took chances to one who takes too many. I can recall the first game under Campbell I was upset because he didn?t take a chance to seal a game whne he should have. Every since he?s been over stupidity aggressive. One extreme to the next. Ain?t one thing it?s another

Nothing over 50 yards should even remotely be considered unless that is the only option to tie a game or win one with little time left with the K we have, that should be a no brainer

Frustrating we have scored 95 points in three games and we are freaking 1-2.

Missed the game because I was coaching my kid's team so I'll just ask here:

When Seibert missed his FGs, did it do that weird wobbly thing mid flight as it sailed wide? He did that in preseason too (even when he made the kicks) and I still can't for the life of me figure out why they chose him over Patterson.

Yeah, for the love of God, it is. It?s too much to ask the Lions for anything.

I?ve watched both my parents die.

I?ve been married twice and watched both my wives parents die.

I?ve watched pretty much all the parents of all my cousins (my aunts and uncles) die.

I?m gonna be 62 years old in less than two weeks, and I?ve watched pretty much almost every person I ever cared for in the generation ahead of me die.

What the fuck does that have to do with how much the Lions suck or don?t suck?

I feel for you about your dad.

I been through it.

Every male fortunate enough to outlive his dad goes through it.

Who the fuck wants to look up from ground, or down from the sky, or from wherever the fuck, and realize ?oh, for the Love of God! How the fuck did I do whatever I did that has resulted in me looking on from wherever I?m looking from to, actually, literally, watch my own father grievously bury me??

To me, that would be the definition of Hell.

But that?s not where you are.

You?re there, able to take care of your father, in his most precious days.

Rejoice, and exalt.

There are probably going be be plenty of Lions losses in the future to fret about.

Don?t recall, the first miss was a doink the 54 yarder at the end wasn?t even remotely close. I mean it wasn?t even in the ball park. I thought they should have kept Patterson also but he was also not reliable over 40 but I would have given him the nod for stronger upside younger guy that could still improve yet over Seibert whom is likely not ever going to get any better

The lions are just stupid to succeed

First one that hit the upright was a slight push it seemed like. Second one was a dead slice that never really had a chance.

What a disappointing loss. Can't throw games like that away. But the next 3 games are all very winnable.

It's the Lions, so that loss is one we've seen countless times in the past. Doesn't even make the top 50 worst losses for them that I've watched.

We don't have a good kicker, so even though the league average for that kick might be 61%, our kicker is well below league average. And it wouldn't have mattered if he made it, we weren't keeping Minnesota out of the end zone. The only way we win is to have gone for it there.

The pass rush was non existent and Minnesota has an awful O Line. That's a big concern. Orunwariye is still not close to 100%, he was terrible, but he's also not healthy. He's a lot better than he looked.

Okudah is the most shocking turnaround of the season. He was bad before the Achilles, now he looks like a pro bowler even though he is getting a lot of safety help.

Still salty about that decision to kick a FG. Like how do you make that decision? Awful. Defense and offensive lapses (ie injuries to Swift/Brown) also caused the loss

Well, that was a tough one. We really should have/could have won it.

On the one hand, MCDC is an amazing motivator and I truly believe the culture is changing here. On the other hand, he makes some very puzzling game management decisions. He needs to get better.
