Im not dumb enough to get lulled into a false sense of identity because of a "good loss." Especially coming off 2 bad wins. I see us going 2-2 over each of the next 3 four game clusters. 8-7-1.

Normally, I would agree with this. But I look at it this way. Historically, and even recently, Detroit gets blown the fuck out against good teams and when they have "big games". Sunday we played with one of the best 2 teams in the NFL and even though we didn't win, we played a game that everyone on the planet saw as a fair fight. Shit, I think we outplayed them.

Maybe this means something, maybe it doesn't.....its too early to tell. But I know this now, if we play with the same offensive mindset and overall intensity we did Sunday.....this is a 10+ win team. If we go right back to playing pussy, "FG's are OK" offense then we're doomed to mediocrity.

Could just as easily be 0-4 lol. They tried really hard to throw the chargers and eagles games as well.

But they're not 0-4. Realistically, they should be 4-0. Wins are wins. Doesn't matter how you get them lol. They let 2 games slip out of their hands. They clean some shit up and they're legit. They play for Patricia.....it's very obvious and that means something.

Oh ok...lol. Refs are bad. Agreed or not??? They're so bad actually, they have instilled NEW rules to help them out because they're so shit lol.

What you WANT to hear is irrelevant. I said what I said and I stand by it. It's every sport, every game.

Actually, it's not irrelevant. Refs need to call a good game. End of story.....be fair.

That?s the one thing I see. It really does seem like they like to play for him. That Coleman can ball. Those punch outs are something to behold. Patrica and Quinn seem to be able to fine DB?s from everywhere. Gotta love that. Yeah should be 4-0. Both the tie and loss bug me because they did feel like SOL shit losses. But they over came the mistakes against KC and had them 4th and 8 with a chance do win. I bet Patrica is kicking himself for not bringing pressure now. I am pretty sure #32 Wilson makes a mistake because that back was covered by the dB. Damn it Spy, spy, spy. Sure hope we play well in Green Bay.

i also think we outplayed them. Heck, making Mahomes look normal is a feat in itself. Credit to the secondary for sure....which by the way...looked better than when Slay is out there. But this game was a big reminder of how you can outplay someone then Lions the game away by fucking up a couple huge plays.
Stafford fumble 3 points
Kerryons fumble 14 points
those 2 plays alone were a 17 point swing. 17! (21 if Golladay catches the touchdown)

Yes the guys played hard...yes we hung with a tough team. But for a team that PREACHES....every fucking interview they preach fundamentals, getting better and just doing the right thing....they had 4 - 5 HUGE fuck ups that completely lost the game and pissed away all that hard work they put in. How can anyone feel good about, or gain trust in a team that can self implode like that.

186 yards rushing. 300 yds and 3 tds from stafford. 4 forced fumbles! Winning by 10 should have been the minimum.

That?s why this could be a good loss. Learn from it. Patricia has 2 weeks to hammer home all the small things that cost them not only a Win, but what could have been a decisive Win. Can the coaching staff man up and learn to handle late game defensive play calling. Stop rushing 2 or 3 consistently.....spy a mobile QB.....maybe bring an unexpected blitz in a game where your secondary was really good. You can fine tune things in a loss like this where we did a lot of things right

I guarantee Belichick made adjustments after we beat their ass last year.

will it be a good loss if they end up 9-6-1 and miss out on the playoffs to a 10-6 team? ;)

Remember when we blew out NE, the SB champs, last year? And the year we started 6-2? Things can change quickly - I'm not sure this game says anything other than we lost a game. Instead of beating someone soundly we've had 4 games that could have gone either way. Not sure that's good or bad.

Oh ok...lol. Refs are bad. Agreed or not??? They're so bad actually, they have instilled NEW rules to help them out because they're so shit lol.

If by bad you mean they occasionally miss calls. Then yes they are "bad".
If you expect 100% accuracy at all times, you are living in a fantasy world.

They continue to try to improve to miss less calls, that is a good thing. Mistakes will happen.

But to think they are biased against certain teams seems far fetched, as there is no evidence to support that, outside of everyone feeling their team gets screwed in various games...which actually supports the refs may be fair.

Fair does not mean they never make a mistake.

I'm holding out any opinions on this team till we play at least one divisional game. The gb game in 2 weeks is going to be very telling.

It's not occasionally tho. They're consistently bad in the NFL. And if you don't think that certain teams get protected in the NFL then you're the delusional one. I just want to see more consistency from these zebras but we don't. They missed a ton against KC. And like I said, the refs were not the reason why we lost but when you miss blatant for sure penalties, it makes losses tougher to swallow. The Lions get hosed a ton. Fuck, it's even talked about from non-Lions fans/media. It's not a made up thing from sour fans.

Detroit Lions sending 3-man rushes more than any other team.
It?s an unpopular strategy, but it?s working fine thus far.
Ask any NFL fan what their least favorite defensive call is and you?ll likely hear one of two responses: prevent defense or a three-man rush. Oftentimes, those terms are interchangeable, but regardless, people hate it when their defense fails to send pass rushers.

But for the Detroit Lions, the three-man pass rush has been an essential part of their defense this year. According to ESPN?s Kevin Seifert, no team has run more three-man rush plays than the Lions, and it?s not particularly close.

?The Lions use three-man rushes more than any other NFL team, a total of 55 dropbacks this season, more than twice the next-highest team,? Seifert wrote on Monday.

Of course, with the Lions? talented secondary, they can afford to utilize that strategy more often. The Lions like to put six defensive backs on the field, and the results speak for themselves. They currently rank eighth in pass defense DVOA, sixth in passer rating allowed (80.3) and are allowing just 55.4 percent of passes to be completed (second best).

That being said, there are some obvious drawbacks, and we saw it in the final drive against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

?But on the winning drive, [Patrick Mahomes] completed 3-of-5 attempts for 33 yards against [three-man rushes] while also scrambling twice for a total of 16 yards,? Seifert wrote.

Will the Lions stick with this strategy as their defensive line gets healthier and (hopefully) more productive? Time will tell.

Sticking with the Lions? pass defense, they?ve been outstanding on third down:
Who's the toughest to throw against on 3rd Down this season?

3rd Down Comp% Allowed:

1. DET 44.4%
2. NE 45.2%

31. ATL 73.3%
32. WAS 87.2%

Matthew Stafford deep ball %
2016: 11.1%
2017: 12.0%
2018: 8.6%
2019: 19.9% 📈

Hosed based what?

Last year KC was the most penalized team,. Lions were the 27th.

Do you think the NFL sent out a memo this year saying don't call penalties on KC because we want them to win more games?

Look at the things are complaining about...they wanted a TD on the field called back, because on a replay where we couldn't see the ball, it could have been a inch short of the goal line.

Complaining about refs calling a fumble and returned for a TD correctly, somehow them not blowing a call screws the Lions.

Our WR bobbling a ball landing out of bounds prior to gaining control.

They missed a holding call. Happens often. We don't want a game where they call anything close to a holding.
