Game 6: Lions @ Cowboys Thread

Goff vs Philly, terrible, vs Minny, terrible. To say he was awesome first 4 games is ridiculous.

Goff?s cap hit is 20 million next year right ? He feels like a game manger to me. It?s so weird because the offense played above average the first four games. Although if you take away both of Goff?s pick 6 away the lions have 2 more wins. Yes he did keep us in those games but those were mistakes. Yesterday Goff fell apart after the interception. Ex-offense linemen are ripping Goff for his happy feet. Yes we are missing guys. So are other teams. I am getting closer to saving the cap hit and drafting a qb or trying to find a free agent qb. The qb draft is pretty deep next year. You may even be able to draft a qb in the later rounds.

Look we all want Goff to work but 61 turnovers since 2019 is telling. When we get Williams back will Goff even be able to get him the ball deep?
So frustrating other rebuilds and way ahead of the Lions. Nothing Changes it seems in Detroit.

There?s no way they live with the 30 million cap hit for Goff next year, unless he plays MVP-level the rest of the season. Goff should either be cut or restructured after this season, if they do neither then I think I?ll finally rid myself of this pathetic franchise.

Holmes was hired about a week before they hired the head coach.

Holmes had no say on the Dan Campbell hire. We hired a team aka Chris Spielman to conduct the interviews. It was meat head to meat head on the Dan Campbell hire.

We had a black head coach at one point and fired him after the most successful 5 year span this organization has seen in the past 25 years. Fired the brother for Matt Patricia and followed that up by hiring a WWE character.

People forget Goff was a backup to a backup before he came to Detroit.

that's odd. Why on earth would a GM take the job and not demand to have a say in who the coach is going to be?

Congrats Lions at 1-5 and with the Texas Tie the worst team in the NFL yet again only 6 weeks in.

pathetic.

maybe they don't win because I'm not black. did I ever think of that? oh man.

The point is and I think we can all agree. Dan Campbell is a joke, he?s a pathetic head coach and has no business being a HC in the NFL. He didn?t deserve the job when he got it and has done absolutely nothing to deserve to keep it. He?s an embarrassment to this team and to every other deserving coach. To put it nicely, Dan Campbell sucks at his current job!

well, there are 7 black GMs in the NFL, so that's not true

Yep and they put them in dumpster fires. Washington, Detroit and an organization with Miami who told the black head coach to lose games. What kind of shit is that?!

what are you saying? Only teams that are dumpster fires are willing to hire a black GM?

Vikings GM and they are in first place
Dolphins GM

Lions (rebuild), Falcons (rebuild), Browns (Watson suspension), Bears (rebuild), Washington (Mayhew former Lions GM)

Trusted to rebuild

As a player yes but while on earth would Chris Spielman be in charge of getting a head coach for us? And why is he an assistant to the CEO or some other nonsense? I mean that that 2-14 season as head couch to the Columbus Destroyers maybe put him over the top. Good player, good man, keep him away from being involved in a head coach search.

Correct. And he LOVES to make a racial argument appear when there was never one to start with.

Good teams typically aren't looking for head coaches/GM's. That's common sense.

Mike Tomlin was put in a pretty nice situation. Jim Caldwell was put in a really good situation in Indy.

Most head coaches, however, get put in crappy situations. Black and white.

It?s just a phase. They tried to duplicate the Patriots, that didn?t work. Now they?re trying the all-former-players approach.

When that inevitably fails, I predict they go with the former-glory approach. They?re going to hire someone who found success once or twice but has been out of the game for 5+ years, then they?ll hand them the keys to everything, a la Stan Van Gundy.
