I just voted.

Coney Island is just Detroit for Diner, Tinsel. Come on.

What you should be asking is 'what is best for a single mother working at In N Out Burger?!'

Really?

There was this diner that was named Coney Island at the Briarwood Mall Way back in the day.

For some reason I remember it as being part of a chain, although off the top of my head I don't remember specifically where any other location was all these years later.

I know it's a Detroit tradition and all, but Coney Island is pretty awful, as far as regional food goes. Big Boy is a lot better.

Does that mean sbee should start worrying more about what's in the best interest for the single mom at Big Boys instead?

Well, no.

But it's more pleasant to think of a Big Boy combination w/fries, than a coney dog, smothered in watery chili, served by a guy who looks like this:

it's essentially a diner like vic said, I've been back in this area for 4 years and i guess it changed my vocabulary a little bit. we do go to coney islands for lunch a lot, very kid friendly but i rarely get coney dogs. I usually go that route once a year, usually if i'm hungover.

The best thing about today: The recorded phone calls from that ignorant cunt Terry Lynn Land should stop. Hopefully forever, if the twat loses.

Ditto for Candice Miller.

Voting later on, probably around 7ish.

voting for a more equal society isn't really "voting against your own interests" unless you define your interests narrowly as "me paying as little in taxes as possible, and not caring if this actually means I have to pay more for services & goods provided by the private sector in the short term or long term."

It's also amazing how many middle class - and hell, now even upper middle class - people vote against their own interests so Mitt Romney's marginal tax rates go down across the board. but whatever... there's a chance they too could be that rich someday... if they "work hard."

and there are atheists in foxholes by the way...

there's a big difference between what's best for me and what equates to social justice.

Polls within the last week or so had Peters with a fairly comfortable lead (double digits).

TLL was a pretty awful candidate, makes me wonder if the Republicans were even trying.

I think the expression actually comes from people simply praying not to die; I don't think it has anything to do with where they hope to end up if they don't make it through.

I'm pretty sure what it means is you can talk all you want but when the bombs start dropping from the sky, you drop to your knees and pray.

If you took the statement as literal, Sbee, that's your fault

no, of course not, especially knowing it was from you and you wouldn't say that anyway if it was literal.

Religion is like the morphine drip, in times of extreme pain or stress you can hit the button to feel better.

there were a ton of ads for Land run in the last month or so.

I did read a good article talking about the point of diminishing returns when it comes to political ads, thank god

Not to me. Something entirely different. Different forum, too. I'll say it takes a fair amount of sustained diligence to even scratch the surface of its the meaning and value. As it should be. "Feeling better" is not even in the conversation. Being joyful is, though ... but that is also grossly misinterpreted.

Just voted for the first time as a North Carolinian. I think I brought the median age of the people in the precinct at the time down to 91. There's a retirement home across the street from the polling place and I think they were all scheduled to arrive at the time I walked in. First time with touch screen technology. Rather easy.

...

I voted for republican regents for U of M, I figure they make poor decisions compared to democrats

I'm not too concerned about this... I'm sure a larger portion of University of Michigan-haters among Michigan voters are Dumb & Conservative, and so would vote for Democratic regents for this reason.

looking at the current states of Arizona and Florida... a maximum voter age limit would be a good thing.

I hate living in farmville, USA. All the elections for the county officials, are unopposed Republicunts.

Why bother with elections, they can all just get together after church and decide who's going to do what.

Really?

No offense meant, but I don't really believe you.

If you really hated it I think you wouldn't live there.

Maybe you hate it once on election day every two years...

I quoted you, because what you said was a little amusing...and also led into what I came onto the board to post.

Now...like everybody else...I get the same mid-term election once every four years of my life...

But...WTF??? None of the traditional broadcast networks are covering the mid-term elections AT ALL!!!

Everybody has NCIS and New Girl and the whole thing...

...when did that start?

fucking shitty results. fuck.

it's crazy how overwhelmingly voters passed some very progressive/liberal ballot initiatives (minimum wage increases, medicinal marijuana, etc.), and yet, the GOP won a lot of races in these same states. it's obvious if you spell out the choices and benefits simply for voters, they act rationally... you confuse the hell out of them with campaign ads, racism, etc., and they don't. shows the power of out-spending and confusing voters with bullshit issues.
