I like conference tournaments

I mean look at last year. Xavier was an 11, got to the Elite 8.

South Carolina was a very average SEC team as a 7 seed and got to the Final 4.

There's zero reason to sterilize this tournament. It's the best tournament in sports.

I think the point of the tournament is to determine a champion. Why put teams in the tournament that have no chance?

Winning the NCAA tournament is next to impossible. Why not just take the top 4 teams and throw them into a best of three? Let's just get rid of the 355 teams or however many and skip to that step?

It's a wonderful tournament. Because these teams don't win the tournament doesn't mean they can't. And as history proves, these lower seeds are a constant danger to make deep runs.

You will eliminate a massive amount of excitement and ruin one of the special events in all of sports by turning it into what every other league does.

No 8 seed has ever won the NBA title. I say we don't allow them into the playoffs anymore. The Detroit Lions have never won a Super Bowl and for all we know never will. Maybe they shouldn't be allowed to play in the NFL anymore.

There are things that are imperfect about the NCAA tournament. Watching a UConn-Kentucky final that was a 7 seed vs an 8 several years ago seemed about as imperfect as it gets. However, letting the 15 and 16 seeds have their shot is not one of them. Sure they're never going to win it all, and a 16 still has never beaten a 1, but they're champions in their own right and there's nothing wrong with giving them that opportunity. When a 16 ever does beat a 1 that'll be talked about more 20 years later than whoever made the Final 4 that year.

It will happen. I'll never forget when Albany was playing UCONN and was up 5-6 with a few minutes left and blew it. That's why we we love the NCAA tourney.

Maybe but for now it's not happening.

If by for now you mean now and for the rest of eternity, I agree.

Almost no one wants to change the tournament much, except to maybe make it even bigger.

A play in game was added, and then expanded to four play in games.

Schools from smaller conferences who win their conference championship games would much rather go to the big dance, and the big dance would rather have them than for them to form their own lower division championship.

Also, if you look at last year's brackets, there were a number of schools from major conferences who were seeded 9 and below - why would anyone think those schools would have any better chance of winning it all than a school who won its conference championship game from a smaller conference who ended up seeded right around the same spot?

who cares...people won't be talking about it in a positive light. They will be talking about the 1 seed that choked.

As far as the NFL and NBA...they are individual leagues...like the Big 10 being one league.

No worries .. it's not going to change thankfully.

Cmu down 9 at half verses the #1 seed Buffalo. And freaking Bob has to replace our mailbox as some drunk asshole pushed a garbage can into it and broke it. I had back injections 2 days ago and had to dig down 3 feet to get under the concrete. .

I almost gave up walked the dog and came back and swore at it .

15 min later I got under the concrete and got it out. Now what do I do lol ????
Pour concrete I guess.

Overwhelmingly college basketball fans love the tournament the way it is.

If it being as big as it is isn't your bag, but you still have some interest, just skip the first weekend.

It gets a lot smaller pretty fast.

I'll be in Cancun for the first 2 rounds...I hope I don't miss Virginia getting upset by the Lipscomb Bisons ;)

Go Eagles!

My dear sweet cousin (whom Hungry met) earned her degree in nursing from Eastern, back in the day.

Actually my very behaviorally erratic yet nevertheless beloved best friend graduated from Eastern, and went on to get a law degree from Michigan.

Eastern plays Toledo looks like at 9 pm Eastern Time. Not on TV. I guess maybe it's streaming on the internet.

Winner plays winner of Kent State v. Buffalo, tomorrow, 7 pm Eastern Time, on ESPN 2, for the MAC tournament championship.

BTW
Emu was down 47-28 with 12:30 left in the second half last night. It was still down 10 with 7:35 left. I guess it was a 28-4 run that turned it around . The Zips were at 57 points with 6:57 left in the game . They ended at 58 :)

That is some turnaround.
