I'm trying to gather up some of the other posters to come over from the ESPN board

Time to move on. There weren't many Michigan fans saying that then and if there were, none of them post here.

And Red --- I just successfully incorporated "secondary" and "tertiary" into my 2nd Quarter Review I am submitting later this morning!!

That's excellent. I wonder if I can work them into my meeting later today.

Did you have MichChamp review your review, just to be sure that your use of that terminology wasn't cumbersome and ponderous?

...and if anyone else wants to play this game, it's TER-shur-ee or maybe sometimes TER-shee-air-ee

I heard the 2nd pronunciation 1st and tend to say it that way, but I think the 1st way I wrote it is more common

I dunno... that could have happened if McGuffy had stayed here.

My kid built him in EAsport NCAA football 2004 (he still plays that one) where he won the heisman all 4 years, broke every rushing record, and got exported and drafted over into Madden where he has led the Detroit Lions to atleast 10 superbowl championships.

Just sayin.

by the way-

Yup. Clearly Michigan fans are the kings of bias. We should have expected RR to be hired and bring on the worst season ever. I can't believe we expected something better then that.

Your second entry is correct. Click on the little audio thingamajingama icon.

I first heard the word years and years ago, when I was a little kid, on an episode of Twilight Zone, where a young Burt Reynolds was mocking Marlon Brando.

He was playing a method actor in the story, and was walking around some set asking everybody, in his best Brando impersonation voice "what's my tertiary motivation?"

When I was in a phone-based position years ago, we'd have small challenges to see if we could work odd words into our conversations ... Our Internal Sales group still does it from time to time -

Maybe Vic should call his quarterly report his QUATERNARY report.
It would be the quintessential name for such a wenus.

I can work them into the present spirit of this thread: OSU: Primary rival. ND: Secondary rival. MSU ... tertiary rival.

Some people do that with their dissertations too. One lab mate worked 1.21 gigawatts into his. Roughly the amount of continuous power a laser would have to output to hold a baseball-sized sphere in the air like a tractor beam. The sphere would have to be clear with the right refractive index, so, not an actual baseball.

I love the arrogance, keep perpetuating the stereotype, but then celebrate like it's 2007 when you eek out a 2pt win at home vs MSU.

I had a conversation like this with Dhani Jones a few weeks ago, it was hilarious. I just told him that I went to MSU and he started saying something like "Spartans cut our lawns" out of nowhere. He seemed totally obsessed with trashing MSU, but yeah, we're not really rivals. My wife told him that he's typical of the UM fan base and that's the reason nobody likes them.

With that kind of power he could have just powered up a Flux Capicitor and sent the baseball into the future.

It's fun to play the expected role of "perpetuating the stereotype" when the Spartan fan expecting the stereotype reacts so absolutely stereotypically for a Spartan.

Every post to this point on the board is about you and your issues with MICHIGAN.

Welcome to the forum, Spartan troll!

I have no issue with Michigan, I just don't like their fans.

It's funny to me that at a charity event for a good cause I hear the arrogance from a former player, supposedly a classy high brow type, but he spits the same line. I'd expect this more from your typical Joe six pack but I guess it's just in his blood.

You are missing the playfull intent, apparently. The term "tertiary" invited the response. But I'll stop now, and resume talking about run expectancy on the Tigers' threads. Less controversial.

For the record: MSU is a MAJOR rival. Nothing ruins my day more than when M loses to MSU. Bo did not understand that his first season and he learned quickly. Also ... I know a guy who played for Duffy in the late 60s. Said he was a terrible coach and a drunk. I'm just the messenger. He was a starter, so there's no resentment over lack of playing time.
