Internet Censorship.

Monoghan... one of the shining examples of the theorem that wealth =/= intelligence OR sound decision making.

Illitch was more sensible. His kids though... that's I'm talking about.

I guess.

His son Atanis was a semi - buddy of mine at Michigan.

But that was back when the old man was in his heyday.

they say the second generation is usually still solid; it's the third generation of wealth that gets hooked on cocaine and cheap strippers.

some families keep it together better than others.

Expect more from family wealth established by sober, serious people, like John D. Rockefeller, and less from family wealth established by people like Donald Trump, right?

It would seem.

A Rockefeller eventually became Vice President, and departed without any kind of incident.

Monoghan and Ilitch were both the originators of their empires that purchased the Tigers.

at the risk of sounding like a billionaire bootlicker, the 11 richest NFL owners are first generation owners mostly coming from middle or working class families. Only 1, Stan Kroenke might not be self made - he married a Walton, probably used her money to start his highly successful real estate development business. Jerry Jones' parents owned a couple of grocery stores so he may have been upper middle class, but nothing like what he's worth today. There are a couple others that come to mind like Daniel Snyder and there a couple of female first generation owners that inherited the teams from their dead husbands. so it's likely 40-50% of the league that are first gen owners.

that's a reasonable counter to the point that I never made: "All NFL owners are 3rd or 4th generation descendents of billionaires"

I think descendants of the families of the New York Giant and Pittsburg Steelers actually married and had a couple daughters who grew up to be burn out coke whores.

Or maybe one had a fling with Mark Zuckerberg at Harvard -or maybe she became an androgynous computer hacking fugitive- and the other became a teacher.

Or an astronaut.

Or a military canine trainer.

Get those stories mixed up.

Just like I get old black conservative economists mixed up.

Fortunately, you have spartanhack here to keep track of those things for you.

well, you did say...

It seems to me like -overall - professional teams are more poorly managed than when I was younger, which would be consistent with the theories of generational wealth and ability I'm familiar with (in many cases we're on the 3rd or 4th generation past the originator of family wealth).

so I looked at just one league and found that's not really the case - overall - in the NFL 40-50% are managed by first generation, self-made owners. I don't think it's a stretch to say you'd find similar results in other leagues, both in the US and abroad.

It also kinda makes me wonder if your theory about class mobility in America isn't accurate (just kidding, I already know it's not).

The only ones I'm familiar with are Rooney and Kate Mara - both fairly successful actresses, Rooney is probably recognized as the more talented one but I think most would agree, Kate is way hotter - I have no idea if either of them is a coke whore.

anyway, lets say they are coke whores, there's 2 out of 30, that's probably enough for MC to conclude that - overall - pro sports team owners are all incompetent 3rd and 4th generation lucky sperm club kids, even though neither of those coke whores has much to do with the Steelers or Giants.

Edit: I did play golf with one of Mara's grandkids a few years back - correction, 9 years ago (it was the summer after they drafted Greg Jones - not a great pick). Anyway, at the time he worked for the Giants in personnel, probably had something to do with who his grandfather was, but I never saw him do any blow and the subject of coke never came up. He seemed like a pretty normal guy - we mostly talked college football most of the time.

Nice job.

I don?t think they?re coke whores at all.

Talented actresses who seem to manage to keep their personal lives out of the tabloids - and given their family background, one would think they would sure be low hanging fruit for that.

Rooney?s first name is actually Patricia. Maybe she went with her middle name for stage purposes. I don?t know what people who know her call her.

Kate?s middle name is also Rooney.

Just think about what a kerfuffle it would have been had they both wanted to use their middle name for their stage name?

I mean, look what happens when the Dunphy sisters only want to wear the same sweater?

Pretty sad when an America company has to go to Russia to find someone willing to host them. Unacceptable

So why don't you host them?

Invest in some old server blades and an air-con unit, set it up in a shed out back, sounds like the kind of thing Parler users would go for.

that type of Can-Do attitude is what made America the 12th greatest country on Earth.

That?s what I said!

They?ll end up self-hosting - it?s the smart move.

After they milk this ?internet censorship? shit for all it?s worth.

Back at the turn of the millennium, I was out and about selling broadband services with web hosting capabilities in the West San Fernando Valley - the porn Capitol of all.

I imagine most of the customers were hosting porn sites.

Nothing too weird, I imagine, maybe some girl on girl; probably just a bit of anal.

If those 1st Amendment entrepreneurs can do it, so can the folks at parler.
