Is CJ the best ever?

The version in Madden. Dude gets 5000+ yards and 100+ TDs every season.

Best in the game NOW.

Still has a long way to go before he passes Rice.

He'll never pass Rice, IMO. I love CJ but the big difference, Rice was probably the greatest route runner in history. He didn't have the speed CJ had but he always got open.

You're probably right. The 49ers had really good players surrounding Rice too. Not a knock on him at all, but CJ has squat around him.

True. Hard to really compare really. They both are great. I cant believe CJ could get 2000 yards. Holy shit.

And he WILL get it.

108 yards...unbelievable. Gotta cheer for something with this fn dogshit of a team.

2013 Draft - ALL DEFENSE

He could break another record, 104 yards from breaking the average yards per game record set by Charley Hennigan. 14 games back then. Also he can break the reception record for Detroit in a season that Herman Moore currently holds.

Any chance Lions can convince Rice to come out of retirement next year?

Or hermann moore?

And barry sanders too!!!

Damn, just once we need all the pieces on the field at the same time. Alas, its the Lions.

I have a slightly different take on this debate. I try to think about it from the standpoint of who I would draft (knowing their abilities, assuming they were playing at the same time, etc.) if I was starting a team, and the answer is pretty easy for me. It's CJ hands down. He's a complete physical freak and he succeeds in spite of his surroundings. This isn't a knock on Rice at all, because he's clearly the best of all-time stat-wise right now and maybe forever, but he was on powerhouse teams and had guys like Montana and Young throwing his passes.

You really can't do that though. I mean you can but I guess you'd take the WR from Houston over Rice as well because he has abililities and is huge etc.

This is more along the lines of what I meant. I know my OP wasn't very clear.

If you had a draft of every eligible player ever....and a specific year.....who is your #1 receiver? Not career numbers or career success. Just one year. One WR. Who ya got?

I'd say 2012 Calvin Johnson is the best WR ever.

You really can't compare. Today's guys are bigger, faster and stronger. Back in the day, DL were 240. So I'd take Suh and the size advantage over a HOF that was 240.

None of that has anything to do with the question....but ok. Good for you.

I know you can't really do that, but you have to when you compare players of different eras. It's like the arguments you get comparing Jordan and Kobe or Lebron, Ruth to Bonds or Aaron, and millions of other ones you always hear.

There are plenty of older era players I'd take over newer ones, but Rice over CJ isn't one of them. I just think Johnson is so big, fast, strong, physical, and dominant that he's a game changer. The guy is just from a different planet.

I don't know. He played for so long but even 15-20 years is a difference. But my 240 theory I was referring to back aways, like 1960.

Rice
Moss
Cj
for me....but cjs not done yet. How often moss was wide open 50 yards down the field was just ridiculous....cj doesnt run bye guys like that.
