Is There Anyone on These Boards Who Has Never Smoked Weed?

Yeah your campaign to be "king of message boards" doesn't seem so worthwhile huh?

And for the record I'm hungover on this fairly fine Saturday.

appropo of this thread topic, i know a good hangover remedy...

as i said, it makes me depressed (i already have that - don't need to be more depreseed)

Nine out of ten people have either smoked or do smoke pot. In 10 years, pot will be just like alcohol.

I've never smoked weed, either. I've never smoked anything, in fact.

I used to smoke cigerettes to. I had to quit them because of my daughter. She had a lot of eye trouble when she was young. She had 6 eye surgeries at U of M before she was 10. Thank god she is fine now. But even being around the slightest bit of smoke aggravates her eyes because her tear ducts dont work right. I always tell her she saved my life because she gave me a reason to quit.

here's my current "problem" or "issue" with weed becoming mainstream:

1. not everyone wants to get high.
2. some have jobs where if they test positive for marijuana they can be fined, suspended, and/or terminated
3. children should not be so easily exposed

now with weed becoming something accepted in society, the problem becomes the second hand smoke. I do not EVER want another contact buzz, and the slightest smell of the smoke is not pleasant for me at all. there will be some who end up in a situation where the second hand smoke is so intense they cannot help but to get buzzed from it.

now, by what right does someone smoking the weed have to give someone else a contact buzz? for someone like me who gets bad migraines from it, it is in some ways a physical assault on my body. then there are the children...and if someone were to be smoking it close enough that my son could get buzzed I am pretty sure I would kick their ass for assaulting my kid by getting him high.

you might be thinking that this could never happen or "just walk away and don't be such a jerk, man...if you don't want to smell it just walk away..." but now that the NYC DA is not going to prosecute people for toting, it is quite possible people could be in a subway car and someone could light up during the longer trips and everyone comes out buzzed.

now think about airlines. do you want your pilot to be potentially suffering from a contact high that they got while going through the terminal? of course if they test positive they can be grounded, but I've never seen a pilot drug tested immediately before their flight.

just saying I think there are some consequences to the second hand smoke that have not been fully thought out by the pro-totes. not everyone wants to be high and they should not have a buzz forced upon them, in essence.

dammit, sorry tinsel...I know u want me to stop "wall"posts...my bad.

quick version, some people don't want contact buzz. is there any legal right to protect them from it?

I hear you but it seems like paranoia to me. I may have had 1 or 2 contact highs my whole life and I am sure one of those was from a Cuban Cigar.. I get bad headaches when the weather changes so I feel bad for you when you get migraines.. Those can be just flat out terrible ...
It just really bothers me that we have allowed second hand cigarette smoke to kill millions and drunk's to maim and kill in so many ways and you want to kick someone's ass for a contact high... I guess I just don't see t that way... Maybe they should all be banned but if millions are going to use weed we may as well legalize it so we can tax it and try and regulate it.

When it becomes an issue, of course.

The best solution to that is only permit smoking inside your own home, or in other designated areas where there's a low risk of exposing others to the second hand smoke.

I don't smoke at all, but I believe in valuing personal freedoms. The only caveats to that is that the personal freedom doesn't jeopardize the well-being of the individual or other members of society. I don't see enough evidence that pot does this any more than alcohol or cigarettes.

25 years ago, I sat out front of the cousin's house that they had grown up in Ozone Park. Someone pulled out a doob and torched it up.

I was pretty sure smokin' pot was illegal in The City of New York, but, having grown up in Ann Arbor during the $5 pot law era - well, hell - ya never know...

So I asked "Isn't smoking pot here illegal?"

"You pretty much have to blow smoke straight into a cop's face to get busted."

Pot is about as decriminalized in The City of New York as it is in Colorado, Oregon, or Amsterdam.

When it eventually officially becomes decriminalized there, not much is going to change.

I am guessing it was about 15 years ago, but I had a pretty similar experience tinsel. We were going to the MOMA and we had one twisted up. We got there and decided we wanted to smoke it before we went in. I assumed we would find a park or something. My friend who lived in NYC just lit it up and we walked around the block while passing it amongst a group of 5 of us. No one even looked our direction.

I've never picked up on a depressed vibe from you (which means nothing because I'm slow to pick up on that kind of stuff.)

There's a web cartoonist that I really like, but her humor is hit or miss. A lot of people think it's great and show it to their friends and they just don't see the appeal. She quit posting at one point because she landed a book deal. Then a long time passed and she posted the following post revealing that she was depressed. Then about another year passed and she posted a follow up.

I've heard on a couple occasions that it's a great description of depression and I think it might be useful in helping people that don't understand to avoid some of the knee-jerk reactions we are prone to. Anyway, I think it's a good read. Probably about 10 minutes each.

I smoked a decent amount in college, never bought it for myself but would partake with friends. i think i've smoked weed maybe 4-5 times in the last 15 years, not for the last 5 or so.

for someone who's pretty much a non smoker i'm as pro pot as they come.

I didnt know that, We hung around the same people but I never saw you.

I don't care if they smoke it somewhere that doesn't impact others, and it isn't just about me. There are so many people who don't want it around or have jobs that they could lose for having it in their system even in minimal amounts.

Well with alcohol there is obviously the DWI/DUI issue, but it isn't possible to get a second hand buzz from alcohol regardless of how much a drunk breathes on you...I think anyway.

I have no issue with clubs or similar venues being pot zones, as long as they advertise it in a way that makes it easily recognized then people can go in and tote away. I feel the same way about cigs, if a club wants to cater to that clientele, go for it, just make it easily known for casual people to grasp it before being subjected to it. That seems fair to me, but open public smoking goes beyond that and I don't believe it is right due to how that can negatively impact another against their wishes.

If clubs get created, I think potheads would be ok with limiting their smoking to home, friends houses, clubs, etc. And not smoke in public. I'm good with that.

I've smoked enough for a lifetime....maybe a few lifetimes. Started at the end of 6th grade running with my hood rat friends in Hamtramck.....then pretty regular all through high school while playing ball....then through the college years. I guess I really didn't slow down till 30....beer had become more important by then. Stopped smoking pot on a dime when I became a dad at 38 for about 8 years.....now the last few years I've really, really slowed down the drinking, and the only time I ever smoke are on the golf course once in a while, tailgating, and at the away games.

Such quality, though.....2 hits out of a dugout and I'm seriously good for 4 hours......and I can't believe the different devices. My brother has this thing that's like earwax, and my friend offered me what I thought was Binaca...like he was telling me I had bad breath......and THAT was thc in spray form, very clean buzz and odorless. I REALLY liked it....afraid to buy it, might never stop:)

Nope, never smoked pot. I always thought it stunk so why smoke it? That being said, I did smoke for 5 years. Started in high school, quit in early '81 (I think).

Drank half a beer in hs and hated the taste. Used to occasionally do mixed drinks when we'd go to the bar to watch my brother-in-law play drums in his band. His nick name? Animal, of course.
