1st school in NCAA history to win 4 straight bowl games at the same time as going to the Sweet 16 4 straight times. Let that sink in for a minute.

Winning a Bowl Game to end the year is huge for morale, to do it 4 years in a row has really helped us keep the momentum going. To have 3 of the Bowls be against big time opponents including a Rose Bowl and a Cotton Bowl against top 5 teams is pretty rare for any school.

Izzo being Izzo in basketball with 4 straight Sweet 16s and 7 out of 8.

Just an incredible run that no other school's fans have ever been able to enjoy. I'd take Bama's Football run or even Ohio State's, I'd take UK's basketball run, but combining both sports it's pretty tough not to be elated with MSU right now.

If we cap it off by making the Final 4 this season that will just be incredible.

Just add it all up, the NFL success we are seeing. Draymond Green in the NBA, Payne starting to get good too. Dominating UM in football. Le'Veon Bell, Dennard, Waynes. It's all pretty good right now.

Make sure to enjoy it. I've suffered through some pretty lean times as an MSU fan. We happen to have IMO 2 top 5 coaches in both major sports. Not only that, but they are united with Hollis and Simon in both vision and goals.

These are great times and I think Izzo will win another title in the next 5 years. Dantonio is also going to win a Natty Title or at least play for one before he leaves too. Just as importantly, what they have built together is going to be a foundation that we'll appreciate for decades.

It won't always be this good, so enjoy this. And oh yeah, Fuck Michigan.

Sheesh, that's pretty uncivil.

And here I've been giving my grounds crew time off during the MSU tournament games to be able to watch them.

The trailer park you live in has grounds keepers? What would Bo think? Oh wait, he's dead.

Nonsense, ive had plenty of Big Ten drones that have worked for me during sales manager/team leader days including several from Michigan that were terrible producers. One facebook pic of a guy wearing cutoff shirts and you wouldnt have made it through the office door :lmao: Now, about those ugly girls at Michigan.....lets get into some facts.

Dont encourage him.

I'm just hacking on him. Tinsel is a good sport w/ a good sense of humor who keeps it clean and above the belt. I don't think he's being a prick - just goofing around engaging in a little friendly back-and-forth.

I know, I dont mind his posts.

pride comes before the derrr derr derrrrr
I think there's a difference between simply reflecting on an accomplishment and mockingly your opponents in post game press conferences. That said we are having a great run in both sports, there some other schools with success in both like OSU, Wisconsin, and Florida and Michigan to some degree but both sucked in both sports this year. This does show that the big ten is the best two sport conference.

Also, when you look at the top basketball schools like kansas, unc, Kentucky, and duke they all have one thing in common, they generally stink at football. We might be the best two sport combo though I might give the nod to OSU, head and shoulders above us in football and a step or two behind on basketball. Hate to say it but I think they have the best revenue sports in the country

Michigan was smart to do everything in their power to keep MSU out of the B1G in the first place, and then Bo was smart to press the Big Ten to throw the book at us for minor recruiting violations in the early 70s. MSU was the sleeping giant for a generation after being the dominant football program in the conference for 2 decades in the 50s and 60s. After the sanctions we had a president whose stated goal was to defund and marginalize athletics.

Then we fumbled and bumbled around for a couple decades and finally got things together about a decade ago. We have a united President, AD, B Ball Coach, and Football coach. We're constantly implementing the facility upgrades that were long overdue. Our facilities can no longer be held against us, they are on par with the other top programs in the country. On top of that we have an innovative AD who is constantly thinking of creative ways to further the MSU athletics brand.

The success on the field and court is no accident. MSU is building a powerhouse in both sports and we're doing it the right way, from the ground up. Like it or not, MSU has some big advantages over UM, it's been a bigger school for a few decades now and currently has an enrollment over 50K, so the alumni base is larger. UM also has a much higher % of their students who come from out of state. So basically, there are many more MSU almuni and family of MSU alumni in this state who have been waiting patiently for MSU to get good. UM has its advantages too and they are going to be at least pretty good in football again, but MSU isn't going anywhere and the days when UM can expect to beat MSU 3 out of 4 years are long gone. A few years ago this state was split 54-46 UM fans to MSU fans, I would bet that's at least 50-50 now and on its way to being a majority Green state.

MSU and UM are going to battling for years to come, we have the upper hand right now, but UM will be back and I expect a back and forth battle soon. Both of the schools are at a disadvantage to Ohio who has a bigger state all to themselves that has a much high level of higher school football to begin with.

So appreciate what we are doing right now. We are fairly dominant. I think CMD gets us a Natty Title in Football and I think Izzo gets a 2nd Natty before he's through. But even when both leave, the foundation has been built for continued success in both major sports indefinitely.

I think you are vastly over estimating the split between the fan bases. Michigan dominates the "Wal Mart" fan base and I don't even think it is close. Walk around in the state of Michigan (outside of AA or EL) and people wearing UM gear over MSU gear...it has to be 4:1...outside of the state of Michigan...20:1

Of course these are just guesses based on my observations

I agree, it's nowhere near 50/50. I would guess 70/30 in Michigan's favor.

...

It's Bo's fault? Not your program for cheating. Right...

Also, you were sanctioned in the early 60's for violations during the late 50's.

I'd hardly say you were the "dominant" program in the 50's and 60's either; geez... click a couple Wikipedia articles before you start poking away at the keyboard like a 6 year old. MSU finished first in the conference 3 times, and finished 3rd or worse 10 times from 1953-1969. programs that had as many or more Big Ten titles during the same time period: Ohio St. (6), and Iowa (3).

I bet you majored in "Revisionist History" at MSU. they have a lot of screwy disciplines there. It's absurd how specific their degree granting programs are. It's more akin to DeVry.

Didn't Minnesota win a bunch of national championships during the 50s and 60s?

EDIT: Looks like just in 1960.

MSU won it their first year (1953), then had those two really good years ('65 & '66). They faded for the rest of the 60's.

no MSU coach has won more than two Big Ten championships, although Dantonio has two now & is still active, so he might. Might.

A poll done a few years ago had it at 54-46 for UM, and I hardly ever see urine and blue clad people anymore. Green and White is everywhere.

Here's a similar poll that has it closer 34-33%. With 21% saying they were fans of neither and 9% saying both.

MSU shared or won solo 6 National Titles from 1951-1966, that's 5 more shared National Titles than UM has had in the last 66 seasons.

The Big ten was good in the 50s and 60s, it was beyond awful in the 70s, just terrible as evidenced by their 2-14 collective bowl record if you take away Purdue's 2-0 record that paced the conference. The Big Ten in the 1970s was easily a worse conference than the MAC is today. Started to get better in the 80s and was good in the 90s.
