Kiper mock 4/17

Better yet, a TE that can catch and not fumble, or be stripped easily

Gotta disagree with ya on the Best scenario. It wasnt "bad luck" that he got hurt. The kid nearly died on the football field in college. Im exaggerating but you know what im getting at, right? Mayhew gambled and lost....

As for Hughes and his list. Its simple....he doesnt like those players he listed, so he bashes them. He doesnt see any production from those guys. And there was production from some of them. Not all but some.

Leshoure, Levy, Bentley, Green, Reiff have all contributed in some way. He doesnt see it because hes either too fn stupid/ignorant or his football IQ is eqivalent to a piece of toast. Whatever the case, they dont become probowlers RIGHT AWAY, theyre dogshit. His thinking is disturbing...

leshoure...one of the worst seasons by a rb with the amount of touches he got.

levy....dude has whiffed on so many plays in the hole lol. its comical. he fucking sucks. cant tackle, cant cover, cant stuff the run....aka hes a shit lb.

bentley/green? they backed up lacey...nuff said.

RIGHT AWAY? BWAHAhahahahaha we have to be the single most worst franchise at coaching up guys and making them better than what the were expected. Ive listed it many times on this board with factual evidence to show that our drafts have resulted in nothing but dog shit. It used to be anything after rd 3 was crap. but now that mayhew has taken over its been more like anything after rd 1 has been dog shit. They dont get better....they dont improve. Most of them barely ever see the field.

Some of these guys, like Broyles, Leshoure, and hopefully a few more will produce soon. Just because they weren't Pro-Bowl worthy yet doesn't mean it was a crap pick. And why the heck did you put Wright in that list?! We signed him to a cheap one year deal, he played well, and then left when he got massively overpaid by the Bucs.

And Mayhew has never done something as stupid as the equivalent of trading up to the #1 to pick Milliner. That'd require at least a 2nd rounder, if not more for a guy we have a decent chance at getting at #5!

broyles is braely out of the pool. leshoure is viewed so highly that we played an undrafted guy over him for almost every fourth quarter and then went out and replaced him in the offseason with reggie bush. The lkpesque viewpoint of maybe theyll produce someday just doesnt make any sense to me. Wright was on the list cause he sucked.

trading up into the 1st rd and losing value in the 4th for a guy with a bruised brain isnt smart. id rather trade up in the first for a starting cb....we havent drafted one since terry fair. imo that was dumber. This was a year that the oline averaged less than 1 yard rushing over center ANNNND over the right side of the line. It took mayhew how many years to finally realize that changes needed to happen on the oline before we can be succesful in the run game????

giving away a mid rd pick for mike thomas then using him for a grand total of 5 catches in 9 games. pretty fucking awesome idea.

trading up for whitehead. sooo we moved up to take a guy that was a 2nd string special teamer just so we can cut our previous years 5th round draft pick. so you cut a 5th, lose a 4th and waste a 4th all in one swift move! lmao...fucking genious!

Mayhew is currently 22-55....yippie.

Thanks for proving my point.

Thats why under Mayhew, the Lions record has improved every year until last year when they took a step backwards. Injuries took a huge part in that but you dont see it. Thats cool bro....ignorance is part of your game....i get it.

its ignorant to think you wouldnt get better than 0 wins. how could you possibly be worse? then he jumped up to 2!...woopidy doo! 22 wins in 5 years....hes averaging just over 4 a year....not good.

Honestly dont see any reason to give up on Leshoure yet. I thought he started running alot harder towards the end of the season. Not one single 20 plus yard run was pretty pathetic though.

And you label guys busts after 1 or 2 seasons. Thats beyond retarded.

Bwahahahahaha!!! Nuff said! See? I can do it too....

its not just leshoure....its 90% mayhew's dumb plan, 10% leshoure comming off injury. You go out and get a grinder for an offense that cant open any holes. You have 2/3s of an oline that averages 1 ypc and you dont upgrade any piece of that line for the last 3 years.

You come out and say as an organization youre looking to get bigger cbs...but you draft bentley.

You say the strength of your team is the dline. But your starting DEs are Willie young and Jason Jones and you have a DT that will make 21 million next year.

give me a guys name that mayhew drafted mid round that is producing for us and has been here beyond 2 years. Here ill help you:

2010 - spievey, fox
2009- levy, derrick williams (slh was a great rotational player and we dont resign him. agree to disagree on levy....i think he blows)
2008- dizon, kevin smith, fluellen

2008 Mayhew didn't draft anyone in 2008.

2009 Levy, Sammie Lee Hill did produce.

LeShoure did produce 9 TDs and had a good solid YPC before all the weapons went down. And it might be more the Oline than him and recovering from an injury as well.

Young produced as a rookie then went insane. Not Mayhews fault, Young is such a douche.

And stop counting 2008 on Mayhew's record. You shouldn't even count 2009 truthfully with how bad Millen screwed this organizaiton.

Leshoure is way to early to say is a failed pick. A popped achilles takes two full years to get back to a form comparable to pre injury. Also that was a completely freak injury. Best was a gamble but if he had stayed healthy he would have been an awesome pick. Put together two great first halfs of seasons. Levy is a serviceable LB just inconsistent at this point. SLH was a very good player for a late round pick but we couldnt afford to keep him. The three Cbs from last year are still developing with a lot of upside among them. You wont hit on every pick but if you hate everything this team does than stop watching cuz im done reading your stupid ass posts.

The guy is counting 2008 losses agaisnt Mayhew's record. He obvisouly is blinded by unjust hate. Stick to the draft prospects hughes, yourassessement of the reason for the failings of the past is terrible.

mayhew wasnt on the staff and didnt help with the talent evaluation process in 2008? You guys drink way too much kool aid if you think the 10 win season was the norm. We were lucky as hell that year and pulled out miracle wins. Mayhew has done a horrible job with personel. We put out a crap product for most of last year. thats his job. To this point of this year our offensive line is still a work in progress and the defense as a whole is much much worse. He will be forced to hit on most of his picks in the draft and not just put them on the bench but they will have to be asked to produce ont he field this year....year 1....right now....or mayhew will be in jeopardy of losing his job. Hitting in the draft and seeing production from picks right away is something mayhew has never done. I dont just make this shit up lol....its a story espn posts on their lions page. So keep watching the lions with your rose colored glasses....your obviously clueless if you think hes doing a "hell of a job."

motown...take your own advice....you dont like seeing my posts...."stop watching", stupid ass. See i can call people names on a message board too!

I can't argue that Mayhew's drafts haven't produced what any of us thought they would. I also can't argue that there have been injuries, outside factors, etc... Hell, it's the Lions right?

But I will say the notion that Mayhew is on the chopping block is media bullshit. If Ford let's Millen go for eight years or whatever it was, Mayhew has a lifetime pass off one playoff run.

Win or Lose, I don't see MM fired after this season. Ford is just too forgiving. He took an assistant GM after an 0-16 year and promoted him for crying out loud.

I think the younger Ford is calling the management shots these days. They are both on thin ice.

oh, realistically i dont think hed be fired either. We will take the same millen approach of keeping him here way too long aka Shack Harris. But that doesnt mean he doesnt deserve to be fired. Poor drafts, poor free agency, the avril saga that ends in another team signing him for a couple mil. There are GMs in the league that turn around their teams in less than a year. But the mayhew lovers keep blaming millen and its been over 4 years now and there is a select few on the team from the millen years. This is mayhew team...not millens anymore. They werent good last year and at a glance prior to the draft they are worse on paper this year.

The one sign i do see of the team moving on from mayhew is the xanders hire. One can only hope.

Millen had the final say. Crediting Mayhew for those losses is pure stupidity and clearly shows your bias. Mayhew completely changed the drafting system when he took over.

.500 ball is the norm at worst. Lions earned every win in 2011. -16 turnover differential in 2012 was the fluke compared to 2010/2011.

Mayhew has accumulated a ton of talent for this team. It's up to talented players to produce, stay healthy and protect the football. They have a franchise QB, plenty of weapons and the Oline is influx starting this season only because Backus retired and Goser got overpaid. They have developed some RTs and planned well with Reiff. And they have enough pieces(DTs/MLB/Safeties/Number 1 CB in Houston) and draft picks on defense to have a solid defense. The 3 drafted CBs/Bartell, Palmer/Levy, Jones can do the job as you are not going to have studs at every position. Get me one stud pass rusher in the draft or Freeney. Great job by Mayhew.

You know Hughes in no part of my post did I ever call you a name. I said your opinion was stupid not you. But since you couldnt keep an opinion on a message board civil I will play this game. You hate so fucking much every pick mayhew makes how about you go back and look at the draft picks you question. Then find me a guy in that range he should have picked either same position or justify why your position would be better. I'll wait

He wanted Josh Robinson in Round 2 who did terrible. One of the worst ranked CBs this year.

Reiff was clearly BPA but he wanted Mercilus and praying Fisher falls.
