Look at his cap numbers...not base salary.
From an article I found (I have to assume it is correct)
2014 - $15.8
2015 - $17.7
2016 - $22.5
2017 - $22
so, again he will have the Lions by the balls around 2016. They are going to have to extend him and push even more money out into the future.
Depends on if they want to keep him. By 2016, most of the dead money on his contract will be gone (2016: $11MM, 2017: $5.5M) and if things don't work out by then they can cut him loose and gain cap space.
