Linos Weren't Targeting Safety

But at 11 wins in two years they need to win those gambles.

The Broyles gamble was made after a playoff appearance. The Best gamble we were desperate for a playmaking RB. We replaced him with Bush when he finally became available.

Young they should have known but I heard it was the coaching staff that convinced him. Talent helped in 2011 for playoffs. Since 2011, Detroit has stuck to high character guys. Lesson learned.

teams with loaded rosters should be taking gambles. Teams like the Lions should be taking low risk players.

What? He didn't do one thing to get the team into the playoffs. Just more excuses.

One ACL injury(with how medicine is now) to a usually healthy WR in college is a not a BIG gamble at pick 54.

Best was but like I said, desperate for playmakers in 2010.

He was a slot guy..in the second round..with an injury. :ugh:

Tons of players have had injuries coming in and get taken in Round 2 and Round 3. Broyles was durable in college until that injury. Started many years. You don't break a NCAA receiving record by being hurt alot of games. Broyles wasn't the first gamble that didn't pay off and not just by the Lions.

Correct he broke receiving records....and just like every other wr that broke receiving records before him....they suck as pros. Why? Cause they all weren't good enough to come out early and played in offenses that threw the ball 86000 times a year which inflated their numbers. Broyles was no where near a 2nd rd talent, was comming off an acl injury, was a luxury pick on a team full of holes....and mayhew got burned.

Burning a 2nd round pick on a slot receiver with an ACL injury is a huge gamble.

Mayhew thought we were loaded and SB bound after we made the playoffs once. Basically he pulled an LKP.

Most draft sites had him Round 2 or 3. Went late Round 2.

Don't act like future slot wasn't a need in 2012

I love the draft for the future argument....but the future never comes :D

The future is now. Burleson is gone my friend. Broyles vs TJ Jones in epic battle when Ebron is not in the slot.
