Lions 2019 Draft

You quoted a post about Quinn and only Quinn, so I figured you were talking about Quinn.

My bad. I honestly thought we talking about MP. Patricia has some leeway. Quinn's window will start closing soon after next yr. All depends on their record.

I agree with your timeline for Patricia. Im not loving his game management, but he needs time to succeed or fail.

With the money and draft picks, Quinn needs to put a talented team on the field next year. If they fail next year it will be tough to keep Quinn for the 2020 off-season.

Tate was the difference between a watchable offense sometimes and and a largely unwatchable offense most of the time

If both results in losing more than winning, I'll take the draft pick over the soon to be gone player 10/10 times. There is plenty of good football to watch that isn't the Lions.

Ahhh but for those not really interested in watching other teams..SOL, so sorry so sad

Last 2 drafts have been good.....more hits than misses. Golladay, Johnson and Hand have been big hits.

Ragnow and Davis (both 1st rounders) look to have promise. Davis has played pretty well lately and has almost no help from other LB’s. Ragnow has really helped the running game.

Teez has been terrible. No other way to put it.

I’d say the last 2 drafts have been a B+. Another good draft, a solid FA class and a new OC and this team could...COULD....be completely different next year.

Load the draft up with a ton of defense. Grab a late Guard to replace Lang or pay some money for a stud Guard. Tate can be replaced as well but I want defense in the first three rounds. 3 impact defenders

I'd like to see Tracy Walker get more pt. I don't want to see Quinn on the field from here on out, and if Slay is playing, I'd rather not see Tabor anymore either, let Diggs man the slot

100%, except for the replacing Tate comment. Imo we dont need a Tate replacement, we need a big talented TE that can do everything. I'd love to have Noah Fant from Iowa, kid catches alot of tds, can block, and with possibly be around in rds 3-4. TE group looks pretty solid this year. If we feel the need for a slot guy, it'd be awesome to grab an undersized burner later in the draft

Anyone know how much of a hit it will take to release Wagner next year? Absolutely hate that non athletic shlub.... They should let Crosby get some playing time towards the end of the season...

Lions save 9 million by cutting Lang (injury)
6 million by cutting Quin (runs like a mattress now)
4.1 million by cutting Lawson (PI and torchings)
3 million saved by cutting Christian Jones (does nothing)
3 million saved by cutting Tavon Wilson (liability in passing game)
In 2019

Another 25 million would be nice on top of the 42 million they should have

having $67M of cap space is good...I guess. But, they are going to need to replace 5 starters on defense and at least 2 on offense. This team is a real mess. They don't have any cornerstone players with the exception of Slay.

Hand, Robinson and Snacks are fine at DT. Diggs fine at SS. Davis will get one more shot at ILB. Kennard could be a pass rushing SAM but they have him playing DE. So get two DEs and move Kennard (Okwara is decent depth plus Kennard is De depth then)

Two Des, CB2, nickel CB, FS (depending on Walker), weakside LB
Power back but not a huge need with Kerryon as work horse
slot WR
RG if they cut Lang
Two tight ends
Oline depth needed other than Crosby

9 starters and depth can be filled in FA with 65 million and full draft (could be trade downs too for more picks)

Getting more pressure on the qb disguises our secondary, go full front 7 the first 3 rounds. Pressure on opposing QBs is our biggest need

Still quick passes can kill you. Agreed on two DEs but I think CB2 and slot CB are big needs too. Someone has to cover besides Slay

I say we forget players and focus on coaches. Bring in two or three more head coaches, 16 offensive coordinators, coaches win you games. Players do not.

Multiple OC would be fun. They can do rock, paper, scissors to see which gets to call the play.

Patricia is letting Paul Pasqualoni call plays. We got another Schwartz and Gunther situation

Still better than every qb having a clean pocket all day to throw, and none of his olinemen giving up an inch
