Lions cut Burleson

:yay: Love me some internets!

I admit that my long post about cap hell a while back revealed I really don't entirely understand how the NFL cap system works...

That said, I am no longer against extending Suh (I thought it would be a restructure, pushing a significant amount of his current contract money forward), provided it isn't above market value and he really isn't the tool that some media reports have made him out to be.

I have to agree that depth will be an issue, at least for this year and maybe next year, with 3 big money guys and the strong likelihood of no cheap guys contributing significantly above their contract from before last year. Injuries WILL happen. We currently (considering who is actually under contract) have zero quality depth at QB, LB, WR, DE, C, S, CB, and TE. We don't even have a K. Most of us want a starter upgrade at WR, CB, and S.

This is an issue, and I can't see how we can fix even most of these areas this offseason. We can get better though, and no team has a perfect depth chart (except in Madden). For all I know, one or more young guys could take a big step forward this year. We do have the draft. We can probably manage a couple decent FA signings. But there will almost certainly be quite a few backups on this team that shouldn't be counted on.

Jacoby Jones is a Lion

yay?...dunno how id feel about that. Hes like an overpriced DHB. Hes definitely fast...

So boldin leaves and the team is going to rely on you to pick up the slack...and you proceed to catch 37 passes for 450 yards in an offense that couldn't run the ball all year. The guy has a problem getting open for some reason eventhough hes so fast. Route running could be an issue. He better come at the right price....if we overpay for that kind of production ill be on the "same ol lions" bus. If hes cheap, ends up being our KR, and is like our 4th WR then itd be a great signing. If they think hes going to step in and be "the guy" opposite CJ...were in big trouble.

He's also turning 30.

Dude, get a grip. Cut the namecalling and crap unless you want to get banned from the board. You have an opinion that the Lions can't win until their top 3 players are earning less. Some people agree with you, and some people agree with LKP in this argument. I'd lean towards agreeing that it is possible to win a Super Bowl with 3 guys like Suh, Stafford, and Calvin making what they are. It obviously makes it more difficult, but like LKP says, a lot of it is about drafting.

Banned from the board for namecalling. So weak ....lol.

I`d rather not sign him and just keep Ross. Jones is nothing more than a slot reciever and a kick returner. A better, older version of Ross that will cost at least 2 million dollars more.

I'm not a huge fan, but as far as FA goes who is out there we can afford?

If im looking to spend a bit id be shooting for Emmanuel sanders

not expensive but bring a certain skill set:
size danario alexander
speed on the outside DHB

darkhorse that could be huge in this offense but comes with a huge ?:
Kenny Britt

That Josh Gordan for a 2nd looks pretty fuckin good right now.

I said it in October......we should have pulled the trigger on that deal when Cleveland was willing. Imagine a CJ and Gordon combo?
