Lions hire Darrell Bevell as OC

agreed on his production as of late...hes not worth it. But id argue he went from NO catching like 80+ balls a year...every year. To catching like 50-60. Its basically due to scheme which is on Bevell....they like to run the ball 60% of the time. Brees was chucking it 50 times a game. Regardless...his time has passed.

I guess but it's more on the Seattle organization for picking up Graham. And why does Wilson get a pass? Everybody's golden boy can't do nothing wrong QB has to shoulder some of that, right? Sure as hell Stafford would get raked over the coals lol. Bevel as well, Graham's age etc etc. A lot of fingers to point.
Quinn really messed up that TE spot last yr and left Stafford with 2 blocking TEs (Willson, Toilolo) and a kid (Roberts) that wasn't ready to be a #1. He needs to at least grab 2 new TEs, maybe 3. Willson isn't coming back IMO. He's from my area and all he does is talk shit about how bad the organization is lol. True story....

NO passes the ball more than Seattle. Guys are going to get less catches.

that's pretty telling...the Lions organization is probably the worst in the NFL. They are pretty much the laughing stock of the NFL.

Id have to side with Drew Brees can make you a star more than Stafford or Bevell can kill your career. There tendancies all over the place in NFL stat books. Stafford hater or homer....you HAVE to admit 4 tds in 4 years for Ebron vs like 13 in 1 year with Luck is ridiculous. Grahams 85 catches and 10 tds in his last year with NO to like 50 catches with SEA is just another tendancy based on scheme but it makes you wonder why you go and get a 85 catch 10 td guy then want to use him less? Points to the fact that you are going to run your program no matter the talent you have around you...which I think is dumb and shows you cant adapt. The good news for Bevell is thats exactly the kind of offense Patricia and Quin both seem to want...so he should be in a good spot. Stafford will be a Russell Wilson without the rushing stats...aka Andy Dalton. We need to hope Kerryon stays healthy cause he could have a HUGE year 2.

so you think Stafford's comp%, YPA, TD% will all go up and his INT% will go down?

I lean towards scheme on the Graham point. I remember watching quite a few Seattle games last year and it seemed like they barely targeted him outside the red zone.

2017 splits: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/G/GrahJi00/splits/2017/

In his last year with Seattle, more than half his targets were in opponent territory. Now this does not exactly hold true in 15 and 16, but I do think it speaks to how they wanted to utilize him on O as time went on. This isn?t exactly a bad thing necessarily, playing to his size vs tighter defenses is smart, but it comes down to quantity vs quality of targets and I?m not sure that less targets/catches is necessarily a bad thing if it doesn?t hinder the offense...his TD-to-catch ratio was phenomenal in 2017.

Whether his lower utilization is worth whatever price tag he commands, that?s another matter.

Detroit Lions Podcast Episode 197 ? Draft, FA, Senior Bowl, Dean Blandino, And Coaching Hires, Oh My? 87 minutes.

In this episode of The Detroit Lions Podcast, Chris and Case pull out all the stops. Chris brings back his report from his trip to the Senior Bowl, we break down who is jumping into the Free Agency pool, Take an early look at the draft, Dean Blandino joins us to talk about the call in the New Orleans Saints and LA Rams game, and Jeff Risdon props his sick body up, and loses his pants, to talk about the Detroit Lions new QB coach hire. Oh, and Justin Rodgers makes a brief (hilarious) appearance prior to joining us for some long form stuff in an upcoming show. It?s an epic show this week!

The Detroit Lions Podcast Brings Out The Big Guns
Things start off normally enough, Chris gets a surprise shot in on Case (with some help from Justin Rodgers of the Detroit News) and they break into a discussion about free agency and the players being added to the availability pool. There are some nice pieces in there that could really help the Detroit Lions. There is one in particular that has Case?s radar pinging ? and it?s hard to disagree with him.

From there we talk about the sad situation with Trevor Bates. Hopefully he gets some help and everything can smooth itself over for everyone. No one is a winner here.

Next we start breaking down some draft scenarios and prospects and how things may have changed with the hiring of Offensive Coordinator Darrell Bevell. There?s a new sheriff in town, and that means a new approach. Bevell shared some great thinking during the hiring process. The Detroit Lions Podcast can?t wait to see what he does with the talent on this team.

From here, Chris does his report on what he saw and experienced at the Senior Bowl this year. Chris brings you to the ?Elephant Walk? and talks about who he sat with, and his approach to evaluation this year. He also breaks down his top players to watch based upon their performances at practice last week. There?s a lot of good info here on a number of players ? some of who just might wind up on the Lions roster.

Dean Blandino Joins Us Again.
Dean Blandino joins the Detroit Lions Podcast to discuss the controversial non-call in the LA Rams and New Orleans Saints game. He breaks down the play itself, the role of the officials, and what happened on the field. He also takes time to discuss what will happen within the ranks of the officials and how things may and may not change going forward. After that we break away from talking about officiating and discuss the Super Bowl LII match up. Dean predicts a winner you never expected.

Lastly, with the breaking news about the hiring of Sean Ryan as QB Coach for Matthew Stafford, Chris and Case call up the sickened corpse of Jeff Risdon and get him to weigh in on the hire. Suffice it to say, he?s quite the happy camper, despite his illness.

This episode of the Detroit Lions Podcast is jam packed. Don?t miss it.

That honor still goes to the Browns.

The Lions won a playoff game in 1991.

Browns won playoff games in 1986, 1987, 1989, and 1994. Not only that, they look to have got their shit together and have a QB that is igniting a fan base. Meanwhile, we got... ?

Recent but extend it out a bit, like 60 years, and it's the Lions all the way.

that's a tough call. They have both been pathetic. They are the only two teams with winless seasons. I think the tiebreaker is the Browns 7 playoff wins over the past 62 years compared to the Lions 1.

I find it difficult to even consider the Browns, yeah they kept their history and all but they’re basically an expansion team from 1999.

Woah don't forget the Bucs.

They have won 11 fucking games since 2015 lol. But ya!! That playoff win in '86 makes them a force...lmao. The Browns are a joke.
