Lions hope to inspire bankrupt Detroit

I wonder if Nate realizes the people in Detroit don't go to games..how about you inspire the suburbs.

Most of those players don't give a shit about the city of Detroit...and why would they???

getting pissed on how he claims to speak for the whole when he's in the minority. did the same thing on the Tiger board and the piston board on ESPN

Maybe he doesn't know for sure or had conversations with the Detroit Lions organization but I doubt any player lives in the city of Detroit either. If there is I can't imagine more than 1 or 2. Athletes that are loaded don't want to live in a hole..

I doubt there is a single Lion player that lives in the city of Detroit

Actually it doesn't matter where they live to be able to take issue with that statement. They play for the city of Detroit - which. in this case, is also the same place as the stadium is located.

You can identify with the city without living there.

So . . . yeah that is why they would care.

You don't have to . . . but to make a blanket statement about something you actually know very little about seems a bit argumentative for no reason.

There is nothing wrong with hoping those who identify with the city of Detroit are inspired.

At least those are my thoughts.

I mean think about the City of New Orleans being inspired during their run. Did you have to live there in a devastated part of town to be inspired?

Well, that is a bit different. Death, homes destroyed etc.

They don't play for the city of Detroit....they play for the Lions. The NFL is a business and the players are just employees.

My guess is most of them play for:
1) their paychecks
2) to win
3) for their teammates

Plus its not like most of these guys are going to live there forever, even in the suburbs. They're sports stars, they will move on..

Its not Barry Sanders or even a recent player, like Best is going to worry about Detroit's bankrupt.

Again speaking for the majority.
