love that he wants to be here....thats a good sign.

Hearing some rumors of a potential Dont’a Hightower for Golden Tate trade, pending physical. Don’t shoot the messenger. Rumors swirling. Hightower a healthy scratch tonight.
This would actually makes sense for the Lions.
Hightower was limited all week with knee, however. We’ll see what happens.
Ryan Spagnoli covers the Patriots.

Well Tate said the Lions had a horrible week of practice leading up to the Seahawks game.
Wtf .Isn?t he one of the leaders on this team? That just can?t happen. Jesus Patriots get pummeled by us and then win the next 5 or 6.. Yet the Lions have 3 no shows this year in 7 games.

New England interested because Gordon can’t stay active all season . He was held out of some series tonight because he was late for meetings.

If we traded tate i would hope it would be for a pick... not a player. Although you won't get much for a half year rental.

I saw that same rumor and would honestly be on board with that trade. Don't know how much hightower has left on his deal or in his tank but would help our run defense.

$7M next year and $8M in 2020.

I strongly doubt any Hightower for Tate talk, although it makes perfect sense for both teams.

Reason being... Belichick NEVER leaks anything ahead of a move. If he's looking to make a deal, if he's even thought about making a deal, you wouldn't be able to waterboard a peep out of him, and Quinn and Patricia come from the same camp in the same mold.

If there were actually talk, we wouldn't know it. Since we've heard it, I doubt there's talk.

Looks like he has 2 more years left on his contract

actually now that i think about it id probably prefer hightower for 2 years over the mid round pick we'd get for Tate. He does command a decent chunk of change for a LB...the other thing youd be doing is moving Jarrad Davis out of the middle and taking away playcalling duties from him...tough to do to a young player.

I will say though, this has been a very active trade season. I don't remember anything quite this active. Big names moving.

Snacks, Cooper, now Demaryius Thomas. Tate could still be on the move.

Also, the framework of the Demaryius Thomas deal should probably be the starting point for a Tate deal if one is made.

Tate has actually been the more productive receiver nearly every season, and unquestionably in any season in which Peyton Manning was not under center. Now, a lot of that has to do with the Lions having the better Qb the last few years, but at the worst, they are comperable players.

Tate is paid less, but Tate is an half a season rental and Demaryius has another year, with no guaranteed money, so he can easily be cut for cap relief.

Texas gave up a 4th and a 7th for Thomas, so it could be argued that something like that is the expectation for Tate as well.

Let's focus on the 4th rounder. Do you think the Pats would give up Hightower for a 4th rounder after they fought like crazy to keep him this past off-season?

I doubt it, so Tate for Hightower straight up makes no sense to me. Receivers, unless elite, are not as valued as defensive players because they are so interchangeable. Even the Lions aren't concerned about losing Tate because they have Jones and Golladay, so they figure Jones can slide right in with no dip in team production.

I just don't see that rumor panning out, unless we threw in a pick like a 5th rounder with Tate to get Hightower, and it might take more than that, he's a damned good player.

Yep, it's on Tate's Twitter. Saying goodbye to the Lions and on to Philly.

That went quicker than I would have guessed.
