Lions looking WR

Do people think Titus walked into the interview process with a fn pink cape, a sombrero and a gstring? Nobody could predict his lunacy. NO ONE. He was a diva in college who occasionally butt heads with his coaches....that happens. He had the talent and proved it his rookie year. He was meant to be our #2 but went batshit crazy.

As for Best, Kevin Smith was our #1...give me a break. Best was 1st rd talent but was a huge risk...it never worked, time to move on

I didn't know anything about Titus, but college is not my thing. I think with Best, a lot has to do with where he was picked. Even on draft day, fans and expects suggested they could have waiting until the 2nd round pick. Though I also heard that NE was going to select him if Detroit didn't trade up..

Smith sucked, no argument there. But that was some messed up concussion he had in college.

who knows....maybe the Lions never even interviewed him. I read that they never even brought Best to Detroit prior to the draft.

And he has taken alot less risks since Best/Young. Broyles you might not like but he seems healthy and can be very productive. We are due for a risk to pay off long term. Hopefully it's Broyles. If it's one thing about Mayhew he learns his lessons instantly. 2012 offseason he learned a lesson and correct it in the 2012/2013 draft and free agency.

Xanders is now being paid to keep a leash on Mayhew. i feel more comfortable now cause of that than i did in the past.....but its still kinda like polishing a turd to me.

It's more common than you would think that a team doesn't even contact a player to avoid tipping their hand. As for Titus I believe they coached him at the senior bowl so they should have had a good idea about what they were getting. i think something changed in him because he wasn't as crazy as a rook.

Yeah, his brain got squished into the front of his skull. He went batshit crazy from a football injury.

They said it was the type of injury that would take 6 months to recover from if he took his medicine, but being batshit crazy, he started believing his medicine was evil or some jazz.

Brain squishing is not good for anyone.

Best was a risk. Titus was a risk. Young was a risk. Hill was a risk.

Show me a draft pick that isn't a risk.

With a 50% bust rate in the first round alone, Andrew Luck was a risk. Peyton Manning was a risk.

How about Brock Williams? Taylor Price? Laurence Mulroney? Chad Jackson? Terrence Wheatley? Bethel Johnson? Adrian Klemm?

What do those guys all have in common? High round draft busts taken by Bill Bellicheck. Every one of them a 3rd rounder or higher, and every one of them a complete bust.

Shit happens.

Oh, and how could I forget Shawn Crable? 3rd round pick that played a whopping SIX whole games. Drafted by the mgihty draft guru Bellicheck.

What did he have, four or five tackles for his entire career? Willie Young was a 7th round pick and did more than that in a season.

Belichick can't draft for beans but he gets the most out of the ones he has, maybe thats all Mayhew needs is to clone Belichick.

Who knows? Cmon bro!!! lol. Young had talent, theres no denying it his rookie year.

And so what if they didn't bring Best in? That means jack shit. they knew it was a risky move, but they had no choice because their running game was pure dogshit.

Best was 1st rd talent...ill say it again. nobody knows if he would have slipped and the Lions obviously thought someone was taking him, so they moved up to snag him.
