Lions moving Reiff to guard?

We're complaining because Mayhew drafted this kid to be our future LT. If he believed he was a tackle and has already given that up, then it's a shitty pick. I'm not complaining about Reiff possibly being better suited for guard , I'm complaining about Mayhews draft picks.

i like this newbie....smart guy!

Reiff will be a good player wherever the hell he plays. End of story. He could be our LT of the future, RT of the future or guard of the future. It works out perfectly if have Backus and another good tackle on the roster. If that turns out to be Fox that would be awesome, not a bad thing. One less hole at RT/RG would be great, maybe even no holes if Fox and Reiff are the answer. Heck if Nagy fixes center then 3 holes are fixed before we even draft. It's the same with OLB. The answer could already be on the roster.

Gosder and Backus did well. They didn't want to roll with an inexperienced rookie when they had two vets who did well in 2011/2012. But they still got Reiff involved and Reiff did well when he stepped in for Backus. The plan to not push rookies too quickly if not needed is a good one especially when you are talking about protecting Stafford.

Fox? 3 years, what'd he play? 10 minutes? He's a bum and a 1st round pick can't beat him out.

The first round pick isn't required to beat him out. They want the first round pick to be a left tackle or a stud guard right now. I'm sure Reiff can beat him out. It's amazing how you guys make conclusions sometimes

Backus and Gosder didn't get hurt mich in 2012. And when Backus did, Reiff was the next guy up. Reiff did beat out Fox once already

I was referring to your "Fox could be the answer". Fox, has a zero % chance to be the answer at anything.

I hope Reiff turns into an all pro because we cannot have anymmore early round busts period. This team is dangeroiusly close to having to rebuild completely from scratch. We need Reiff to be worthy of the 23rd pick in the 1st where ever he ends up on the line. We need Broyles to come back 100% and be a top notch #2 receiver, we need Bentley to be a high quality NFL starter at CB. We cannot afford to bust on any of these guys because we already busted on most of our picks the last several years. Not only that, but we need to get 3-4 starters out of the draft this month.

The Lions have a margin for error of zero considering what's happened in the recent past with picks busting. On top of having little cap space, a couple more high picks bust, from last year or this month's draft, and we are going to look at a roster that needs a complete overhaul. Too many holes to fill already, we cannot afford anymore.

Whys' that. He has talent, just had health problems in 2010/2011. Backus and Gosder weren't being unseated which was the right call in 2012. Fox could be the answer at RT. Unless you've seen every day in practice, then don't make declarations of him definitely not being the answer. We shall see probably by draft day if they take a tackle

Don't forget 2012, 1 game and that's it. The guy has done nothing in 3 years. I can take an educated guess to know he won't amount to shit in 2013.

Just because he had Backus/Gosder/Reiff ahead of him in 2012 doesn't mean he sucked. He played one game in 2010, a Lions win even

The guy blew and yeah if you don't play, regardless the reason you shouldn't be on the team. We had freakin' Peterman at RG last season. That guy sucked and no one could beat him out?

Fox has talent whether you like it or not. He is not built for guard and Peterman was the incumbent with the same line coach from college in Yarno that got fired this year.

Good players start, simple. The Lions were horrible on the right side of the line, fact. Fox could not get playing time on the right side, fact. If Peterman and Gosder started ahead of you, you suck. If Fox who hasn't played in 3 years and got beat by Peterman and Gosder yet starts ahead of Reiff, that makes Reiff a wasted pick.

What are you basing this 'Fox has talent" on? FOX was a late 4th round pick who has played in 1 game in 3 seasons. Nothing about him says he's got talent. He's not been healthy, he hasn't played at all, and he has thus far been a career backup to unequivically untalented linemen.

reiff isn't built for LT yet we selected him in the first round.

Is the jury still out on Fox? Yes. Likely it will come back and say he's not the answer IMHO.

But, the Lions coaching staff was playing the continuity card on the o-line for the past few years so it was going to take a lot to crack that lineup, barring starter injuries. Now, they're blowing it up and rightfully so after the poor performance last year.

All I'm hoping is that eventually when we draft 1st and 2nd rounders they start at the position they were selected for, year one.

I say we draft all kickers and punters from here on out, we can trade down and get more picks so we can take like 6 kickers and 9 punters with our 15 picks in the 6th and 7th rounds. From there we can fill our defense, those guys are great athletes, they'll adapt to new positions.
