Lions new OC's view on Stafford

shouldn't take dogs 3 years to get fixed....

Very true...but if corrective actions are not taken by those in authority, the dog thinks his behavior is acceptable and expected. That's on the handlers, who have been fired.

That elite part is the problem. I wouldn't even care if he didn't make so much money. He's been paid to be elite yet putting up less than elite numbers.

I agree 100%. That whole QB draft class was worthless. Stafford is never going to be an elite level QB. He just does not have the brains for it. Look at the the elite guys, they elivate their game when it counts. Stafford folds. It is pretty sad when you think about the amount of money he counts against the cap. We could go with a McKown type QB and not miss a beat. I think we would have made the playoffs if our backup would have been out there.

According to Lions QB "standards" during the Superbowl era, Stafford IS elite. What former starting QB is comparable?

Munson?
Landry?
Danielson?
Hipple?
Kramer? (the only Lions QB to have ever won a playoff game)
Peete?
Mitchell?
Batch?
Reich (SB XXVII QB for the losing Bills, I believe that he was the only former Lions QB who had actually played in one, and wasn't just standing on the sidelines or sitting on the bench (Batch)
Harrington?
Culpepper?
Kitna?

Stafford isn't elite by NFL standards, but he is better than most, if not all of the QBs who the Lions have had behind center before he became their starting QB, IMO.

That's not saying much. Even in a group of 20 butt ugly girls, one is the "prettiest"

For shame...you forgot the 2005 5th Round super safety stud Dan Orlovsky.

How could you forget, #1 pick and 12th overall Chuck Long. Now there was a winner.

. . . also forgot who he replaced for his first action. Ferguson.

sad and pathetic group. Memories started flooding back - may need to get drunk so I can kill those brain cells. Wasn't Jeff Komlo around that time too? Kill me now.

Jeff Komlo, boy did he stink. He might have been the worse of the worse.

Didn't post them all, just a decent sample, what about the guitar playing and singing QB Joe Reed?

Stafford is easily the most frustating QB I have ever watched. He has all the tools to become an elite QB but never puts it together consistently. Stafford is certainly to blame here, make no mistakes in what im about to say. I really do wonder how much of the blame falls on the coaches and coordinators.

I've never really been too high on Linehan, and I really question if his schemes were a big part of our offensive struggles - as well as Stafford. The difference with other coaches and great QB's is, when they lose star players, they adjust their game plan and put their players in a position to make plays. Linehan and Schwartz were very adamant that their game plans would never change, players just needed to step up and fill the holes.

I question if that mentality made Stafford second guess his coaches, and hurt his confidence in their game plans. I really hope Lombardi is as good as advertised, and that he can bring a creative playbook that will create mismatches. Hopefully him and Caldwell can coach Stafford up a bit, too.

Probably a combination of a lot of things.
