Mayhew and Lewand Fired - Mayhew signs with Giants

Btw, if the new GM wants to get rid of Stafford and CJ before next season for an extremely flexible 2017 cap situation, expect 2016 to be painful.

IMO, it was going to be painful anyway. With or without.

Uh, I'm seeing a lot of reports saying that Xanders is the temporary replacement. Please Please Please as long as EVERYONE gets fired by the end of the season then I'm good. I don't wanna see NO-BO-DY associated with this shit show back next year. Fire the ball boys too.

Apparently from the Detroit News guy, just on NFL Network, Martha really really likes Caldwell. Thinks he's the most wonderful coach.

Guys. Try to stay on topic :)

No problem. This was the right decision based on results. How many pro bowlers have Mayhew and Lewand got and kept on this team? Maybe Megatron if you count that because they were under Millen. Stafford after several guys dropped out. Suh is no longer here.

Based on 7 years of drafts, we have 0 pro bowl selections that weren't alternates. In 7 years of drafts to completely whiff on high quality talent takes a special kind of ineptitude.

This is the GM that you have proclaimed is great. To get fired in this overly patience organization takes a lot of mistakes.

Not sure it makes sense the WAY it was done.

Lewand has very little to do with the team on the field. His job is mostly business oriented. So he gets fired, but Caldwell stays?

I suspect there may be more here before it's all said and done.

I assume Caldwell's future will depend on the new GM. And it damn well better be someone outside the organization.

Maybe Caldwell is an evil genius, he managed to convince Martha that everyone else was to blame in order to save his own ass.

Sadly playoff appearances get you far in this town. Any other serious football city, that barely means anything.

Just heard that Lions ownership is also meeting with Caldwell today. Maybe he will be gone too.
